Editorial Review:

Product Description:

Both a uniquely intimate look at what makes a sniper tick and a harrowing read filled with dramatic war tales, Trigger Men is a book about killing and what it takes to be the ultimate warrior.

Halberstadt takes readers deeper inside the elusive world of snipers than ever before, from recruitment and training to the brutality of the killing fields. Mixed into the thrilling narrative, for the first time ever in their own words, American combat snipers talk about what it is like to kill a man and what it takes to become one of the elite. Based on hundreds of hours of exclusive interviews, Halberstadt gets inside the sniper mind and shows how Shadow Team confidence led to success that led to even more aggressive operations. Readers will learn how snipers think and interact as a team, how missions are planned and executed, how the weapons work, and even what happens when a bullet strikes its target.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Interesting interviews
I didn't know what to expect from Trigger Men, but it's an interesting book. A collection of interviews taken from several different snipers, it manages to take the reader along on difficult and dangerous missions, and also manages to include explanatory chapters on ballistics and what it's like to attend the Army's Sniper School.

And it manages to do so without falling prey to the same kind of puffed-up braggadocio that largely ruins "Long Rifle" (another sniper book).

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good Read On Sniping!
"Trigger Men: Shadow Team, Spider-Man, The Magnificent Bastards, and the American Combat Sniper" by Hans Halberstadt is a unique look at one of the most effective weapons on the battlefield - the military sniper. Halberstadt takes readers into the elusive world of military snipers with first hand accounts from those serving on the front lines.

In their own words, you learn about what it is like to train as a military sniper, and what it is like to complete a mission and kill an enemy combatant. ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great behind the gun view of a vital military job.
This book was a wonderful look that most people don't see or think about of a very important function in our military. Never have so few people made such a large contribution to the battlefield environment. No other position offers such a enormous potential for one or two men to cause so much disruption in the enemy forces than the job of a sniper. It surly takes a special kind of person to take on a job like this. Of the many books that I have read about snipers, Trigger Men by Hans Halberstadt is one of the ... Read More

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Terribly organized and written book
I bought this book because I am fascinated by sniping and I wanted to see how the job had changed in Iraq. I didn't know I was buying the worst-edited book on earth.

The narrative lacks basic organization. Paragraphs take off in tangents and leave you wondering what the point is. The author repeats the same point over and over, sometimes three times on one page. Then, there is the annoying whinge about how snipers are underappreciated, underused and misused.

There are nuggets of great ... Read More
