Marvel Comics has released the Barack Obama variant cover image for Amazing Spider-Man #583.
The issue, in stores on Jan. 14, includes a back-up story featuring the President-Elect. The variant cover is by Phil Jimenez.
The story, written by Zeb Wells and art by Todd Nauck and Frank D'Armata takes place in Washington, D.C. on Inauguration Day and finds one of Spider-Manšs oldest foes attempting to thwart the swearing in ceremony of the 44th President.
"When we heard that President-Elect Obama is a collector of Spider-Man comics, we knew that these two historic figures had to meet in our comics' Marvel Universe," said Joe Quesda, Marvel's editor-in-chief. "Historic moments such as this one can be reflected in our comics because the Marvel Universe is set in the real world. A Spider-Man fan moving into the Oval Office is an event that must be commemorated in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man."

I don't know who they think their kidding this is obviously because they are Obama supporters and are celebrating. I'm not opposed of course to using real life Presidents, but this is kind of more like free publicity for his next election.
They might end up making some folks mad. I just have to wonder if Bush ever said he was a fan of Spider-man would they have put him on the cover?

I saw this today. I think it's a harmless pop culture reference, like having basket baller players or baseball players in comics. It won't harm Spiderman sales, It's going to be a collectors item.I'm sure all the presidents can be found referenced in Marvel somewhere.
But I bet the guy who will hate this the most is Steve Ditko.Judging from what I've seen he not to keen on bleeding heart Liberal :D
Bush is more of a Long Ranger fan I bet.

I wouldn't care, but just the fact they didn't make a big deal over Bush or Reagan when they first got elected. In the end it's not a biggie. Obama supporters will probably make it a collector's item at least for now.
As for Spidey on money, I say why not. Obama promised change then give Spider-man his own currency.
