Marvel Man, Big Blue, Phantom Marvel
Little is know of the background of the powerhouse who one day appeared out of the blue. He made an immediate impact by taking down such heavyweights as the Abomination and Black Horn. Speaking little and avoiding the press at all times, several names were attached to him over the years. Initially called Marvel Man, this morphed to Big Blue for awhile based on his gold and blue costume. Some even took to referring to him as the Phantom Marvel to his habit of mysteriously appearing in times of need and disappearing just as fast. This coupled with his apparently disfigured facial features led to comparisons with Erik, the scarred “Phantom of the Opera”. While originally meant as a derogatory reference, the moniker that eventually stuck was that of the Phantom Marvel. No public comments either for or against this designation ever came from him, so the world now refers to him by this. The Phantom Marvel possesses Thor-level strength and invulnerability as well as the power of flight. Since he is apparently impervious to most damage, speculation is that some type of supernatural accident both scarred his face and gave him extraordinary powers. The Phantom Marvel has never confirmed or denied this assertion. While his self-imposed seclusion makes him a loner most of the time, he does not shy away from other heroes when the time is dire. In fact those who have teamed with him are in awe of his raw power and decisive and calculated action. The Phantom Marvel is always conscious of those around him and goes out of his way to limit the collateral damage that could occur in the major-league throw downs he is often engaged in. Literally a man of few words, this popular hero stands tall in stature and exploits on the world-wide stage.
