I love the idea of mixing characters on classic covers like that.

Has anyone bought or read Kirby's Eternals series during the 70s? That was a fun read! It was those stories that introduced Sersi and The Forgotten One (who joined the Avengers in the late 80s) and Ikaris.

Actually, I don't think I've ever read one, but after seeing this cover, I think I might have to check them out. Funny you should mention them, but I was thinking they sounded really cool.

Buy Book 2 or get more info at Amazon
Product Description:
A time of titans, terror, and time travel - as only the King could conceive! Imagine a race of immortal beings possessed of seemingly limitless superhuman abilities including energy projection, strength, and flight. Once worshipped as gods, this fantastic group left Earth to explore the stars after warring with the Greek, Roman, and Norse pantheons for supremacy over mankind. In 1976, Jack Kirby introduced what was to be his final great Marvel Comics creation: the Eternals! With nearly four decades of experience creating iconic characters, Kirby stretched his imagination to the limit for his last tale. Looking beyond the familiar ground of super heroes, Kirby crafted a cosmic epic that took comic-book fans on a spectacular adventure every month. Since Kirby's groundbreaking work, the Eternals and their malevolent counterparts, the Deviants, have become vital parts of the Marvel Universe. Awarding-winning creators such as Neil Gaiman have revisited the concept, finding new levels of meaning in Kirby's visionary work. Now, for the first time, Marvel proudly presents the entire Eternals series collected in two softcover volumes - further proof that Jack Kirby was truly the King. The Eternals, Book 1
I got to get this books.

One thing I should say though, don't be misled by that cover like I was. I was thinking, "Great! I get to see Ikaris go one on one with Hulk!" but that's not even the real Hulk so that was kind of a letdown. (that's not really a spoiler, since you will find out he's not the Hulk at the beginning of the story.) These comics are pretty awesome though. And make sure you get Thor: The Eternals Saga Vol. 1 and 2 also which are a continuation of these stories. I don't think they've rereleased the 80s Eternals series though.
By the way there's a series going right now about these guys called Thor: The Deviants Saga. I'm waiting for it be released as a trade.

Well I was excited about the Hulk fight, but then the time travel is enough to get me interested.
So this one is next.Thor: The Eternals Saga, Vol. 1 (Avengers) (v. 1)
then this one

Thor Eternals volume 2
The war between gods and Eternals may be over, but Thor's still left to
face the Fourth Celestial Host - along with the fearsome Fafnir, the devastating
Destroyer and, as ever, the larcenous Loki! Plus: a gathering of gods! The
mystery of Mother Nature! The legends of Asgard across the millennia as told by
the ultimate Eye-witness! Guest-starring the Valkyrie and the Young Gods!
Collects Thor #292-301.
Is this one the 80's mini-series? Eternals Neil Gaiman (Author), John Romita (Illustrator) You are thousands of years old. You have amazing powers. You have watched civilizations rise and fall. So why does no one remember any of this?
Bestselling Author Neil Gaiman (Marvel: 1602, Anansi Boys, Sandman) is joined by
superstar artist John Romita Jr. (Amazing Spider-Man, Wolverine) to present a
tale that will change the Eternals and the Marvel Universe forever! Collects Eternals #1-7.
I think this one is 2009.

Eternals: To Slay a god (v. 1)
The Gods Walk the Earth! In ancient times, the Celestials, a race of cosmic
giants, came to Earth and created a race of powerful immortal beings: The
Eternals! For a time, primitive man worshiped them as gods, but eventually they
disappeared. Now, they have returned! One of the Celestials now towers over
Golden Gate Park, standing in judgment over the Earth... but does he bring the
end of the world? Following up on Neil Gaiman's best-selling series (and a
recent appearance in the Incredible Hercules), join writers Charles and Daniel
Knauf as Jack Kirby's Eternals return to walk among us! Collects Eternals #1-6.
Then there's this one -
Eternals: Manifest Destiny
Ikaris makes a huge move as the next saga in our cosmic adventure begins! As the
drastically approaching Horde legion moves ever closer to Earth, Druig and
Ikaris' ageless hatred towards one another finally explodes! Pacts are broken,
alliances are shaped, lines are drawn, and Eternal blood will flow on the Marvel
landscape! Don't miss it, dear reader, as the goldern-haired Eternal breaks from
the pact to become a star! Collects Eternals #7-9 and Annual. So you say
there's another one being put out right now that's not out yet in a collection?

I'm definitely going to have get some of these books. I may try to find the original comics first though before getting the collections. It's just the collector in me I love to have the originals, but if I can't get them at a reasonable price I'll start with the first Kirby collection and go from there. It's funny I've never noticed these characters in all the years I've been collecting comics. I guess 90 percent of what I read now, I read as a kid.
