Beginning on May 10, DC
Comics shows us what was going on in the DC Comics Universe while
their main stars were gone. After the Infinite Crisis story takes
place, DC's heroes like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are no
longer patrolling the streets fighting crime. As you may know
already, all DC issues recently started off with a banner, one year
later, where the heroes return. The DC Comics series entitled
"52" will present new heroes and show us that
missing year in detail.
During the year, Lex Luthor will have his own
Justice League with heroes named Reaver, Omnivore, Ultimate Man,
Lumina, Trajectory, and Herakles.
According to the June issue of Wizard magazine
#176, on page 141, a very old obscure character will have a major role
in the 52 series. According to them the character named Supernova
that debuted in World's Finest # 178 will burst on the scene in a
big way. To the left is the modern version of the character. Mark
Waid, the writer of 52, told Wizard that Booster Gold and Clark Kent
will be trying to discover Supernova's secret, and that Booster Gold
and Supernova seem to have it in for one another. Going
back to Supernova's first appearance in comics way back in 1968,
Supernova in that story, that started in World's Finest issue #178
and ended in #180, was intended as an imaginary story where Superman
loses his powers on a space mission and takes on a new identity, that
of Nova. The costume was a little different and as already stated
the character's name was Nova not Supernova.

In this
imaginary tale, Superman never regains his super powers.
Batman and Robin offer to train the ex-Man of Steel to be a
non-super- hero.
Could it be that in 52 Supernova is
really Clark Kent? Especially since the latest issues of
Superman have him without powers. Of course
Superman will return triumphantly to the skies of Metropolis
just in time for Superman Returns the movie.

The last page
shows Superman ready to hang up the Nova costume for good. Just how
does it resurface so many years later? Especially considering this
was an imaginary tale that occurred back way before even the Crisis
on Infinite Earths Mini Series.
