Elektra Movie
Rather than trash the movie like a lot of people are doing I
thought I would remark on the positives of the movie
first. It has Jennifer Garner for one. It has lots of
fight scenes. It has a half way decent story, and it has
Jennifer Garner. O yeah and it's got Zod - Terence
Stamp. He plays Elektra's blind Sensei.
Why is it not doing so well you ask. Well, It was in my humble
opinion to begin with a character like Elektra is not the best
choice for a super hero movie. I was still entertained mind
you, but to me Elektra is just a supporting character to
Daredevil, and you don't make whole movies about supporting
characters. That's just my opinion. The movie itself with the
locations mainly in the woods, and a deserted mansion doesn't make me
feel like they spent a whole lot of money on this movie. I
would have liked the climax to have been in the big city. They
could have destroyed more things that way. |
The movie feels more like the Mortal Combat
movie than the continuation of the Daredevil movie. I know it's not
a sequel, but it would have been a lot better to have related more
to it. A guest appearance by Daredevil even for a couple of minutes
would have been awesome. They didn't even flashback to Daredevil
sequences.
The villains were completely right out of a
video game. I hated the guy with the tattoos. Animals should not
come out of a man's tattoo. It just ain't right.
Comic book movies have to feel huge. To get
people excited enough to go. It just has to feel colossal. Like a
disaster movie, but with heroes to save the day. So with those kind
expectations It's no wonder the Mortal Combat like tv commercials
didn't drive people to see the movie. Elektra would have probably
been a lot better if she had been protecting the main characters
from a mob hit instead of weird ninja guys. Not to knock Mortal
Combat the first movie was cool, but I just don't think it fits with
a Marvel character like Elektra.
Still in the end I didn't feel like I wasted
my money and needed to bang my head up against a wall screaming I've
wasted my life ..Why did I go see it! I liked it all in all. It was
actually better than I thought it was going to be thanks to all the
negative reviews I read. After seeing it, I thought it would do
better than the fifth place it finished in it's opening weekend. I
definitely recommend renting it when it comes out on dvd. I will
probably buy it since I collect just about every movie about super
heroes there is, but that's just me.
