Here's the official description:  A "cure" for mutancy threatens to alter the course of history. For the first time, mutants have a choice: retain their uniqueness, though it isolates and alienates them, or give up their powers and become human. The opposing viewpoints of mutant leaders Charles Xavier, who preaches tolerance, and Magneto, who believes in the survival of the fittest, are put to the ultimate test--triggering the war to end all wars.

I just saw the movie and in a word, it rocks!  I hadn't read everything I could get my hands on involving the movie. I loved the last two, but I just hadn't felt caught up in the hype. I had seen the trailer and the 7 minute preview, but that's it. I guess being just the beginning of summer, the movie bug hadn't hit me yet, but after seeing this movie I've gotten the summer movie bug, big time. It's everything a summer movie should be.

Most importantly it captures the essence of what makes the X-men good. It was not a rehash of any one X-men comic, but I felt like a kid again watching the John Byrne, Chris Claremont Phoenix issues come to life. What truly makes action on a movie good is when you feel it. The emotion of the action comes through the screen and hits you. You get a sense of being there. A lot of action flicks make the mistake of giving great scenes without any humanity to them. It's the ability to relate to a character on the screen that pulls you into whatever action is occurring.  Without the emotion the action falls flat as watching paint dry, but give the audience a reference point like a good actor like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and it becomes a great roller coaster ride.

I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say there are a few surprises in the movie that make it worthwhile. Do yourself a favor go see the movie without reading any spoilers. Trust me!
