I'm in to fitness and weightlifting and all that so this was an interesting article to me. Hugh Jackman bulks up for Wolverine

Quote:
Widely known as trainer to the stars, Michael often calls upon Aussie Bodies support in finding high quality products to accompany his training programs. He reports on the changing physique of his client and long-term mate. "Hugh's weight has actually dropped over 4 kilograms since we began training for Wolverine. However we use a body scanning machine that has proven we have only lost .3 of a kilogram of muscle through that weight loss period so it is predominantly body fat that has gone. Initially we concentrated on building muscle and there was a significant increase in muscle mass so we're happy with the results".

Quote:
To help them attain these goals the dynamic duo are using Aussie Bodies Mega Weight Gainer with other products including branch-chain amino acids, L-Carnitine, Arginine, and a slow release protein formula.

I take amino acid supplements and L-Carnitiine which helps in fat loss. I guess I could stand to take some Arginine too.

Here's another article where Hugh Jackman talks about his mindset for his fitness training for Wolverine. Wolverine Training I'm not sure how old this article is. It could be from his training for the last x-men movie.

Main points
Quote:
I do an hour and a half a day in the gym and eat a thousand calories more a day than I would normally.

Quote:
Lots of heavy iron: bench-press variations, barbell lunges, light squats, and leg presses, among other staples. "I'd change it up every 3 weeks," he says. "Three weeks heavy with lots of rest between sets. Then change to lighter weight, slower reps, four count up, four count down. Then mix in fast, explosive lifting, always changing the workout."

Quote:
"When I have 315 pounds above me, there's that little breaking point," he says. "You either get really pissed off at that weight, or you ask for help from your spotter. It's that exact point -- and every guy reading this article will recognize it -- when Wolverine gets not just pissed off, but insanely pissed off. I try to reach that point every day in my workout. And then push through it."
315 bench is not bad!

What kind of music does Wolverine listen to?
Quote:
I crank up the Godsmack and Metallica.

And one more from X-men 2, Hugh Jackman's trainer, Steve Ramsbottom, gave this interview. Read it at Discovery Health

Quote:
What if you do only aerobics or only weight training?
A:   You will get results, to an extent. But if you incorporate both those types of training you will get better results. If you are only doing cardiovascular training, that's good, but it's not going to increase your metabolism as much as strength training will do.

When you do strength training — for anyone wanting to lose weight — i.e., by doing a workout with weights, you are not only going to burn fat during the workout, but you will increase your post-workout metabolism; for about three hours afterward your body is still burning fuel and calories. Which is a huge benefit over what cardiovascular training will do: when you are done doing the exercise, your calorie burning is also done.

Out of my way Lou I'm coming through!

I've been pushing 245 like 6-7 times for 3 sets. My kid is 14 and he's benching 135 5 times now. I've been working out for years. I need to start getting serious so I can get to 315 bench.

One of these days when I get enough money and time I really want to take some martial arts classes.
Posted:  02 Feb 2008 00:16
fly out here, I'll teach ya for free

Be warry though, private lessons (for real arts) cost at the minimum $150.  And a regular session costs 100$ a month.

Woo boy! Either pay for airline tickets or high martial arts training fees. I need to get rich if I'm ever going to be a perfect human fighting machine like Batman. You got to be rich like Bruce Wayne to afford to train.

too true unfortunately

needless to say my martial arts taks up most of my time and money.

So who do you think would win in a fight, Chuck Norris or Jackie Chan?
Posted:  02 Feb 2008 19:54
ooo...the world's mightiest mortal or the master of Moo Gi Gong....

Their battle would would be so epic they need another planet to fight on, ours it too small.

You might be right, but you know at least from the movies Jackie looks like it fights best in real world settings using the landscape and whats around him. I wonder how he'd do if he was cooped up in a ring.
