Amazing, a fan with access to Paramount and George Takei
Go here to watch

In response to growing controversy about whether or not "World Enough and Time," the third in a series of fan films produced under the banner Star Trek: Phase II, is too professional a production to qualify as such, the film's director Marc Zicree has replied with a formal statement sent to the Science-Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA). As revealed on the website DenofGeek.com, Zicree makes no apologies for the level of connectedness of his new effort.

Among Zicree's unusually candid revelations: the film was shot on the Universal lot; it was made with the full knowledge and endorsement of both CBS and Paramount; J.J. Abrams gave him some personal directorial advice; and a number of people, including Zicree, cast member George Takei and editor Chris Cronin, were paid for their efforts. Zicree is a former writer for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and concocted this new offering with the help of former series colleague Michael Reeves.
DenofGeek.com legitimately asks, when is a fan film no longer a fan film? In this case, you have fans of the franchise acting alongside former cast members, as well as the idea that although this is a free download available on the Internet, it has been endorsed by the copywright holding Hollywood organizations that watch over the franchise (CBS, Paramount). The website predicts that soon enough, such officially endorsed fan films will hit paid services like iTunes.
Zicree's episode comes on the heels of the equally professional looking installment "To Serve All My Days," made by Dorothy Fontana, a script editor on the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation, and featuring Walter Koenig. Up next is a two-parter, "Blood and Fire," scripted and helmed by "The Trouble with Tribbles" episode writer David Gerrold.
