Based on the Chinese legend of the monkey king, an American teen discovers the king's legendary stick weapon in a pawn shop. He is transported back in time to ancient China, where he joins a crew of warriors fighting to free the imprisoned king

Jet Li and Jackie Chan on the same movie for the first time.

Yay! Jackie Chan & Jet Li are both really good. I also like the legend, I had been trying to turn the monkey king into a superhero but my idea never really panned out.

Now the question is do I rent the video, buy the video, go to the theater, or a combination there of.

i liked the movie, jackie and jet were real funny together and it had some good action.
now that i've seen iron man, i'm going to see speed racer.  i loved the matrix trilogy and v for vendetta so i'm definitely gonna go see speed racer for the wachowski factor alone.

Let us know how Speedracer was. I think it looks like it's got a lot of action, but I have never seen a speed racer cartoon that I remember.

I am kind of wondering if all the scenes in the movie are going to look too cartoony. The scenes I've seen so far look so surreal.

Definitely going to rent it, but if all the reviews are good especially for the effects, then I will probably go see it in the theater to see the effects on the big screen.

I saw it today annd I liked it a lot.  It definitely has a bright cartoon mood with occasional moments that are played out cartoon-style.  I never really saw the cartoon but it was evident that it was true to the cartoon in many ways.  Sin City received good reviews from critics for turning a movie into a comic book, not visa versa. Speed Racer does the same turning a movie into a cartooon rather than a cartoon into a movie.  This gave it a fresh feel that I liked and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the story line.  The races themselves are amazing and make this worth seeing in theaters.  I would go because some of the racing action is most likely better enjoyed in a theater atmosphere than on a TV.  I was pleasantly surprised and was entertained by the cartoon aspect and bright color scheme that many have hammered this movie for.  I give the Wachowski brothers another big thumbs up for coming out with another fresh movie after the Matrix Trilogy and V for Vendetta.

Sounds like it was a fun movie. Now if gas and everything else would go down I wouldn't have to be picky about which movies I see. I could take a chance and not worry about it. Well at least no real gas was used on this movie only cgi fuel.

You know I kind of wonder why they don't they come up with another Matrix sequel.
