A History of the Universe:
Humans had lived on Earth Prime since the beginning of time. Sometime at the turn of the 33rd century they discovered the means to traverse space and had built a fleet of starships with which to explore the universe. Four ships were sent out and they found new worlds to colonize.

Each one was named in honor of their home planet, Earth II, Third Earth, Earth Delta, and Earth X. These five planets, including Earth Prime, formed an alliance with five other planets in the universe. Omega III, Planet H, Boreas V, Planet Thor, and Capricorn VI all joined in a contract with the five Earths to form the first ever Planetary Alliance. This took place late in the 37th century.

A scientist by the name of Edgar Saberheim invented five special ships as prototypes for a defense fleet. This was in the year 4439. One was stationed on Earth Prime; it was by far the largest and most heavily armed. The others were placed on Earth II, Earth Delta, Omega III, and Boreas V. If these proved successful the plan was to create five more to protect the rest of the planets in the Alliance.

Alas that would not come to pass because Prof. Edgar Saberheim died the next year without putting his ideas on paper. The secret of the now named “Saber Ships” went with him to the grave.

The pilots, each one chosen by the elders of their respective planets, became known as the Saber Force. And they protected the galaxy from all neighboring threats for three hundred years.

In the year 4752:
Strange objects appeared in the skies over Earth Delta. They reminded John Riker of mythical dragons he’d read about as a kid. He retrieved his energy rifle from his locker and headed toward the Gryphon.

As he fired up the thrusters of his Saber Ship he couldn’t help but feel a sense of dread sweep over him as if this was the last time he would ever see his home. As the ship lifted off he unconsciously activated the cloak and the Gryphon effectively disappeared from sight.

Once he left the atmosphere he was shocked at what he saw. A fleet of the “dragon ships” hovered on the horizon. It was no mystery what they were doing there. Each one was heavily armed and could be nothing other than the warships they appeared to be.

John Riker piloted his ship out of what he hoped was the range of the dragon ships weaponry and de-cloaked. He worked haphazardly but with purpose to send out a distress signal to the rest of the Saber Force. John prayed that backup would arrive before it was too late.

Just then his ship was rocked by incoming fire. One of the dragon ships had closed in on him while he was transmitting. He hurriedly entered into some evasive rolls utilizing his ship’s maneuvering wings to their full effect. The Gryphon let out its own laser blasts in retaliation but they bounced harmlessly off the hull of the massive warship.

Picking up speed John entered into a dive taking him back towards Earth Delta. He punched in the sequence to send his ship back into stealth mode, cloaking it from the enemy’s view. The dragon ship seemed to roar in defiance as its mouth opened and flame spat out in wide stream. The fire barely missed the Gryphon and John Riker wiped the sweat from his forehead as he sighed with relief.

As he took a minute to scan the heavens around him he saw the other warships bombarding Earth Delta’s surface with planet busters and laser fire. He could only imagine how it looked from the planet’s surface as people scurried toward transport ships in an effort to flee.

John saw some of those transports entering the sky only to be taken out by the warships waiting for just such an escape attempt. His heart went out to them as he wished there was something else he could do.

Just as one of the massive “planet buster” rockets broke through the surface of Earth Delta, the Saber Force arrived. The planet exploded into billions of tiny pieces sending rock and debris in all directions. The saber ships took a few hits as they formed up to survey the situation.

As the bulkier ships of the Saber Force, Lyger VII, Chimera, and Manitcore began opening fire on some of the dragon ships, the Sphinx and the Gryphon used their maneuverability to strike out with hit and run tactics keeping the warships distracted. The lead dragon ship opened a communications channel to the Saber Force after calling for his own ships to stand down.

“You should give up. We outnumber you five to one; the odds are in our favor.”

Pilot of the Lyger VII, Roger Hawkins responded “we will fight you until our dying breathes!”

“That will be sooner than you think if you don’t surrender” the commander of the lead ship retorted “for this is just a portion of the Draconian Armada. Think of the destruction of this insignificant planet as a warning. When the rest of the fleet arrives your people will be enslaved.”

“Hey Hawk” Jessie, pilot of the Sphinx, called to Roger over the private channel “me and John were just discussing something. Were you briefed by your council on the Sentor initiative?”

“Do you think something like that could work?” chimed in James Archer, pilot of the Manticore.

“What do we have to lose?” added Donovan Slade readying Chimera for docking.

“Alright team, commence the Sentor initiative, prepare for docking on my mark” Hawk ordered.

As Roger Hawkins put in the code his ship began altering its shape. Latching arms extended from the four corners of the ship which would allow the other ships to dock with it “alright Chimera, Manticore initiate docking!”

The Chimera and Manticore altered their shape, becoming what appeared to be giant arms. They attached themselves to the forward docking latches with a clang. Then Hawk ordered the other two to begin.

The Sphinx and the Gryphon altered their own shapes becoming two large legs and feet with winged ankles. They attached themselves to the aft latches to complete the docking. Then the Lyger VII’s head rotated into place and a metal plate extended covering its lion like snout as two horns spread from the top of its head as if the ship were wearing some sort of medieval helmet.

“Sentor is a go!” the five of them shouted in unison.

The lead dragon ship’s commander, Darius shouted in outrage as he ordered his ships to attack. The dragon ships lanced out toward the giant robot unleashing fire and laser blasts in quick succession.

Using the ankle wings, the ship maneuvered out of the way and began firing its own weaponry. Manticore’s stinger missiles and the Gryphon’s lasers shot out striking three of the dragon ships. All three were destroyed. Then the Lyger VIIs head mounted blast cannon fired forcing its way through six ships that were lined up destroying each one in turn.

Darius ordered the remainder of the fleet to close in and get past Sentor’s long range defenses. Realizing their intent, Slade activated the Chimera’s last defense protocol which caused it to form a giant sword hilt in its hand which in turn extended a mighty plasma blade.

As the dragons closed in Sentor went to work swinging the sword striking the ships one by one sending them down in a fiery blaze. Darius quickly turned coward as he ordered his own ship to retreat leaving the remains of his fleet to keep the giant robot from following him.

Very imaginative. Like future stories.
