 Hancock Review

Hancock starts out very strong giving what it promises ni the trailer: a mean-spirited dirtbag of a hero who nobody likes.  It's hilarious.  As the film moves on it delivers a twist that I don't think anyone could have seen coming.  It takes awhile to flesh out this new twist in the movie and explain just what the heck's going on, but in the end, it is a satisfying conclusion to an entertaining film.
The movie shows Hancock's gradual and convincing change form "@$$-hole" to the type of hero you see in many Marvel films.  This is when the twist hits and the movie almost stumbles, but maintains it's overall charm and intrigue mostly thanks to a convincing Will Smith.
The movie is filmed in a way I usually dislike.  There is often unsteady though not dizzying camera work that really gives the film a feeling of reality like this is a real and normal world where Hancock lives, and creates the illusion that you're in the room with the eccentric Hancock experiencing the whole situation.  The fact that Will Smith is such a celebrity gives Hancock a feel of being someone famous, despite how peope may like him.  All of these elements put you rigth at the dinner table with Hancock as he dines with a struggling public relations man, played by Jason Bateman.
So as I stated earlier, the first half is great comedy and the whole movie maintains a level of overll fun and excitement.  While the action ranges form great to mediocre, it is full of enough wit in other areas to carry it.  The whole cast does pretty well and we are shown once again why Will Smith always come sthrough to a certain degree in any film making outing he takes part in.
8 out of 10 (pending a second viewing on dvd/blu-ray and some time to see how much it sticks with me)

Cool, I think I'm going to see it next week when I'm near the theater. Sounds like it's fun to watch.

I saw it yesterday. I liked it. The more I thought about it the more I liked it. I think the worse I could say is that I might have been bored a total of 10 minutes but I loved 90 percent of it. The ending was awesome. Got to love it when the hero has to dig way deep down inside himself against all odds and get up to save the day.

A little bit on the cussing for a pg-13 movie. I almost think it could have been R rated.

I'd go see a sequel.

Definately funny, I liked the way the put a twist on how we see superheros, glorious, headstong, confident.  Not depressed, or a drunk.  Seeing Smith act that and turn his life around was really good.

I enjoyed it.

how about that twist though, wow.
and the F-word can only be used once (or twice at the most) to maintain pg-13 rating.
i have to admit it was pobably my favorite part in the movie when some guy tells this lay to sue him, and hancock's like "you should sue mcdonalds, the [effed] you up."
