Fri Sep 19, 5:16 AM PDT

This Thursday's numbers, at a glance:

8 pm/ET
Smallville's season opener delivered 4.38 million total viewers, a 14 percent drop from last year's premiere. Fox's Hole in the Wall, averaging 4.72 mil across two episodes, dipped 12 percent week-to-week.

9 pm
Supernatural's numbers were touched by an angel, as the season premiere drew 3.96 mil " a 33 percent surge over the previous opener and the series' best CW performance ever. Kitchen Nightmares held steady at 6.15 mil.

I watched them both. Was anybody surprised at who saved Dean? I know I was.

The Supernatural episode really caught me off guard with that ending though. I thought that was cool.

I hope it's really an angel. It would be too predictable for him to turn out to be just another monster.
