Marvel Animation, the cartoon division of Marvel Entertainment, is beginning production on "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes," the company's latest animated series.

The Hollywood Reporter says Film Roman, the company behind "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill," has been hired to produce the 26-episode series, which will be available for broadcast in 2011, in time for Marvel Studios' releases of the tentpole live-action movies The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers.

Producing the series is Ciro Nieli, whose credits include "Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go!" and "Teen Titans." The series' story editor is Christopher Yost, who has worked on the Marvel cartoons "Iron Man Armored Adventures" and "Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes."

You all realize the announcements keep getting farther and farther out. I'll forget about this series by the time it comes on. Well unless there's a lot more news about it along the way which there probably will be closer to it's release.

The First Avenger: Captain America? Seriously they can't be using that as a title. I know it will tie in to the others but originally he wasnt even the first member he showed up a couple issues into the Avengers.

Captain America needs his own movie just like Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. Don't add the First Avenger into it.

I guess they are going on the fact he was a superhero before the other members. Cap will have his own movie. Hopefully it will rock.

It better...

Personally, I think this show may be a pretty good idea. Finally a chance to give some of the less popular superheroes a chance in the spotlight. Like Hawkeye, Vision, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Wonder Man.

They did that back in the 90's with that Fox Avengers cartoon show. Captain America only showed up a couple of times. The show mainly focused on the side heroes. I think it had Ant Man as the leader.

Well the new Avengers show should have more Captain America in it. A lot more. I think they will since a movie is being made about him.
