From Comic Book Movie:

Quote:
Actor Kevin McKidd was accosted at a Punisher after-party where he confirmed he was still up for the role of Thor in Marvel's thunder god movie.
You may recognize him from the movie Trainspotting, or a recent failed tv show called "Journeyman." Just don't see Topsy Turvy or it might ruin him for you.

This from IGN...

McKidd confirmed that he's still a contender for the lead role and that there's been "a lot of back and forth" about the project of late, but that nothing has been determined. He acknowledged that Kenneth Branagh is directing it, a choice that makes him even more excited about the film.

McKidd stressed that the part that he's up for is indeed that of Thor and not a supporting role. This contradicts what McKidd told us last year when he suggested that Thor might be played by a younger actor and that he would be up for a different role instead.

Here's a pic of McKidd.

I surprised that this guy is actually in the running. I would expect McKidd to be a candidate for the role of the doctor that turns into Thor, rather than Thor himself. He just isn't big enough.

I liked that show. Made me mad when it got canceled. I think he'd make a great Donald Blake Thor's alter ego. He's a little thin for Thor though. You know a lot of really good actors aren't really muscled up though.  I think Arnold and Stallone are great actors, but there aren't a lot of those kind of guys around anymore.

Yeah I can't think of anybody that is big enough, and can act.

Journeyman never should have gotten canceled. I love those time travel shows.

Me too. Time travel is a subject I never get tired of. The possibilities are endless and are only limited by one's imagination since no one really knows what would happen if you could travel in time.

What's the best time travel show you ever seen?

Mine would be Quantum Leap.

Yeah I guess I'd have to go with Quantum Leap. I loved that show.

My favorite time travel movie is probably The Final Countdown that and Planet of the Apes

From the Final Countdown-

Lasky: Think of the history of the next forty years...
Commander Richard Owens: I have a suspicion history will be a little more difficult to beat, than you imagine Mr. Lasky.
Lasky: I'm talking about the classic paradox of time. Imagine, for example, I go back in time and meet my own Grandfather. Long before he got married, before he had children. And we have an argument, and I kill him. Now if that happens, how am I ever going to be born? And if I can never be born, how can I go back in history and meet my very own Grandfather?
Commander Richard Owens: [angrily] I'm not half the theorist you are, Mr. Lasky. But I still have a gut instinct that things only happen once. And if they have happened, then there's nothing we can do to change them. Nor should we try.
Lasky: Well, how are you going to avoid it? It's already happening, and we're already involved!

Awesome movie!

And then there was this classic dialogue.

Captain Yelland: If the United States falls under attack our job is to defend her in the past, present and future.

Lasky: And after that?
Captain Yelland: After that, we take our orders from the Commander in Chief of the United States Armed Forces.

Lasky: Franklin Delano Roosevelt?

Sounds good, but I never saw that film. Planet of the Apes would probably be my favorite time travel movie too. Got that on dvd. (I'm talking about the orginal with Charlton Heston of course, I never watched the new one.) I'm trying to name off some other classics but I can't seem to think of them right now.

You never watched the new one? I liked it too actually. It doesn't get quite as many points with me as the original because it was original, but I love the shocking ending. Just hate that they never made a sequel so we could find out what happened.

If you like the Twilight Zone then you'd love the Final Countdown. It's like a Twilight Zone episode with a very huge budget.

I like the Twilight Zone. Maybe the Final Countdown will come on again soon.

i think the movie may be parting from the donald blake actually looking completely different and go with it just being like a secrte identiity for the broader audience.  i've never really gottne thor, i think he's cool in team books, but how does he really fit into marvel's universe.  norse mythology?
i heard journeyman was good and i think that guy looks the part well.

How exactly does Marvel's God of Thunder Thor come to earth in preparation for The Avengers? IESB.net might have the answer. The site says:

A reliable source tells the IESB that the character of Donald Blake has been added to the end of the script. Let me reiterate that he wasn't there before, the script was set entirely in the land of the Norse Gods.

The introduction of the character is essential to how Marvel will tie Thor into the Avengers that is set in contemporary Tony Stark/Hulk timeframe. It explains how the actual Thor film will be set in the ancient time of the Norse Gods and how they will subsequently bring the character into a modern time with Donald Blake discovering the magical Norse hammer Mjolnir and turning into Thor.

The site adds that Thor director Kenneth Branagh will have an acting part in the film as well.

I always loved the Final Countdown.Zeroes against Tomcat jets. I think it there was a simlar Twilight zone episode about a Tank crew travelling back to Custers Last Stand.

Been British there's only one Time show and that's Doctor Who. Although it's spin off Torchwood had one or two Time merging episodes which were ok.

I saw that one about the tank. I think I've about seen them all now.
