When it comes to the animated series Krypto I'm pulled in two directions. I've always liked Krypto, so to see him animated is a real treat. Although it tends to be kind of silly directed towards a very young audience, the shows always seem to have a positive message. I'm not 100% sure but I think Krypto was the first Superhero animal. Because of that I feel he deserves his own show as long as it doesn't make him look ridiculous.

Krypto is definitely for kids, but it's fun to watch.

anyone dissin krypto needs to read the last superman story make believe issue (right at the end of the silver age bevfore they rebooted the DC characters) by alan moore (writer of watchmen, v for vendetta, LXG).  krypto's self sacrifice gives the completely cornered superman a fighting chance when all was lost.
there was also a fun krypto scene in all star superman #6 where young clark and krypto play fetch with a tree trunk in space.  i highly reccommend that series to you tim.  grant morrison really has fun taking superman's powers to places most writers are too focused on plot to notice.  it's silver age type stories with the edge of modern writing and art which is done in a fresh way giving superman the look of a goliath of a human and colors that play out the book and suit amazingly, especially when almost evry other artist gives superman the same eact look these days.  it even won an eisner last year for best new series an wizard magazine gave it a ten out of ten when they rated the superman and batman titles.  it was the only book to achieve a perfect rating.  plus, the hardback's out so if you can't get your hands on the individual issues it's available.  this is a book so fresh it even made th thousand times told predictable death of pa kent seem sad and shocking.

I like the first one best too.

yeah the one with the grave is amazing.  the clouds are awesome, superman is perfectly proportioned and the whole thing has a really smooth, distinctive superman look.

It's really moody too. It's like out of a movie good.

The superman comic that superdude is refering to is Superman #423 which came out in Sept. 1986. I can remember the heroism that Krypto showed to save his master brought a tear to my eye(I guess I'm just a sentimental fool) when I first read it. I just finished reading the hardbound edition of All-star Superman. I can see why it was the only one to receive a perfect rating by Wizard mag. I really liked the nuanced humor sprinkled throughout the storyline, like when a bumbling Clark saves an old man and his dog crossing a street. Is All-star Superman an ongoing series or a limited series?

Just a limited series I believe.

ongoing.  like the ultimate series.
i also like how it rarely has to be coninued two parters.  it makes itself accessible for a quick fun read.  the writer's really clever with supes powers.  like once, when running through a riot in prison with lex, he uses heat vision to start the fire sprinklers and then ice breath to to freeze the wet rioters.

Really, I thought it was a limited series. I'm going to have to start getting into that one. I think I've only got like one issue or two.
Posted:  01 Sep 2007 02:36
well you can still pretty much get them all for cover price.

I have 21 long boxes in my closet packed from floor to ceiling. I'm not quite sure where to go with them next!
Posted:  07 Sep 2007 14:35
That's a lot. Sounds hard to navigate through that way. I think that's a more than I got.
Posted:  09 Sep 2007 01:10
maybe you should seel some you have no feelings for, or move them away into seperate space from you newer ones and favorites.  i have trouble organizing 6 boxes!
