Both Smallville and Supernatural have been picked up for another season, and there is talk according to Supermanhomepage.com that since Tom Welling was on a 8 year contract and the contracts for Smallville have always been for at least 2 years at a time. Then being as next season is season 9 then there could very well be a season 10. Getting Tom Welling of course would be the biggest issue in whether or not there is another season.

Isn't it about time though to change the name from Smallville to Metropolis considering the direction of the show?

Or is it just me who thinks this way?

Though they could simply change the name to Clark Kent/Superman and then they wouldn't have to worry about which city he spends most his time in.

Yeah, I love the show, but I am feeling it's a bit ridiculous to keep hanging on to the Smallville formula after 8 years. It's time to put him in Metropolis and either make him Superman, or razor sharp close to being Superman.

As a writer of the show I'd be embarrassed not to have him become Superman by this point. He'll be old enough to retire before he puts on the freakin costume.

Yeah he'll probably look like the superman from Kingdom Come complete with gray hair.

Yeah or he'll look like Marlon Brando in Superman the movie with white hair.

It was my understanding that the creators of Smallville were never going to have Tom Welling wear the Superman costume no matter how many seasons they ran or that they couln't get the rights from whoever owns the costumes trademark. Anybody else know anything about this line of thinking?

I read that and also read that he would never fly as long as they were in charge of the show, (which I imagine is why they made him afraid of heights), but I've also read that the show no longer has the same people attached to it that it had in the beginning (other than the cast). So I would think unless it is a problem of getting the rights then they should be able to do it now.
