FROM DYNAMITE BUCK ROGERS BLASTS OFF FOR ONLY A QUARTER

Dynamite Entertainment announces that its upcoming Buck Rogers comic book series will blast off in May with issue #0, landing in readers' hands for the incredibly low cover price of .25¢.  That's right - the 25th Century for just 25 cents!

"We're planning Buck's launch to be one of our biggest of 2009, one that will propel him into the comics future.  We could think of no more appropriate way to welcome fans to this totally fresh take on one of comicdom's first heroes than to offer his first new comics adventure in years at this incredible introductory price."

"Dynamite's reinvention of Buck Rogers will follow the path Dynamite has blazed with its previous successful titles, and to ensure the comics audience can read the launch, we're releasing the comic at a .25¢ cover price.  Dynamite is proud to be instrumental in re-inventing and continuing the legacies of  historical characters and their worlds with creators who can execute great stories.  We're equally proud of the consistent critical and fan responses to our efforts, and are confident that Scott Beatty and Carlos Rafael will deliver.  We're confident that Buck Rogers will extend Dynamite's own tradition of creating and bringing together generations of fans in the most thrilling way possible, which is why we are launching it at an Introductory Priced.  This will allow retailers to stock it, and fans to try it, and see the quality, inexpensively." stated Dynamite President Nick Barrucci.

According to Scott Beatty "I can't begin to describe my excitement in working with Dynamite and the Dille Estate to chronicle the all-new adventures of science fiction's original spaceman, Buck Rogers.""Buck is a sci-fi icon. We wouldn't have STAR TREK or STAR WARS or many of the familiar trappings of the genre without the trails blazed by Buck with his trusty ray-gun and jet-pack. And with that in mind, I'm humbled by the fact that I get to work with such an important and indelible literary creation.

Featuring stellar covers by John Cassaday on the series (and on the #0 issue) - and a special variant cover on issue #1 by Alex Ross - with story by Scott Beatty, and interior art by Carlos Rafael, Dynamite predicts Buck Rogers will be the smash hit sci-fi and adventure series of 2009 (and beyo-o-o-o-nd).

At the moment I'm buying alot of the Dynamite stuff. Project Superheroes/Black Terror/Devil and The Night Witches part of the Battlefield saga. I'm sure Buck Rogers will be a fine addition to the catalogue. Judging from the image their going for the 30's Buck rather then the 80's disco Buck.

You mean "Staying Alive" Buck in the 25 Century? The only disco song I like.

Did you watch any of those new Flash Gordon episodes on the sci-fi before they canceled it? I thought they were ok. Watched it sometimes.

There still showing on Sci-fi over here. But I've not seen any of them. Though I did watch Firefly today.

Buck Rogers is back in the 21st Century and I'm pretty excited!  Dynamite has a great roster of pulp characters, and Buck only adds to that family!  Can't wait! - Vito Delsanto, Events Coordinator/Manager

"Buck Rogers for a quarter?! Seriously? Way to go Dynamite, rolling prices back to those of the 70's with the launch of the original space man, Buck Rogers. Surely they have noticed that the reading public is looking for a bargain in these stressing economic times and they filling that demand with some true escapist fantasy in the form of a hero from our past. I can't wait to see the direction that Scott Beatty & Carlos Rafeal take this science fiction icon.

"Sweet cover for #0 by John Cassaday. And I hear that #1 will have another Cassaday cover with an alternate cover by Alex Ross. Got to love that. At this price we'll be ordering a few hundred extra copies to pass out to our regular customers and all of those new readers that will be stopping by for Free Comic Book Day, May 2nd." - Bob Hoskins - all around nice guy and owner of Stormwatch Comics on Route 73

"Dynamite Entertainment has done a fantastic job in bringing classic characters to a modern audience and that should continue with Buck Rogers. I expect big things from this book. And at only a quarter, how can you not give it a try?" - Roger Ash, Content Editor, Westfield Comics (WestfieldComics.com)

"We were really excited to hear that Dynamite's "25 cents for the 25th century" Buck Rogers #0 preview book will be shipping in time for Free Comic Book Day.  We've ordered thousands of these books to give away for the first few months of the series, which will give it a big push and expose a lot of folks to a new title.

The book's sold at a fantastic price, and all our stores are looking forward to this new series.  John Cassaday is a fan favorite here, so we know the covers and his character designs will rock, and Carlos Rafael's work on Battlestar Galactica bodes well for the interiors!

And the Cherry on Top!  Alex Ross and John Cassaday creating covers for issue #1!!! You can't beat that!" - Chris Powell - Lone Star Comics and Comics Pro!
