American Jesus Thread

This is the thread to discuss the Mark Millar and Peter Gross trade that is set to be made into a film.  The story will take place as a trilogy of trades with the first trade “Chosen” out now.  The link below gets you the first full issue for free.

http://www.newsarama.com/php/multimedia/album.php?aid=26818

The story involves a twelve-year-old boy who suddenly discovers that he’s the returned Jesus Christ.  So check out the first issue for free and discuss away.

I would suggest using “SPOILER” text before throwing out any of the major twists or turns that take place throughout the trade.

You know I was a little iffy on actually checking this one out and after the first few pages of foul language and such I was thinking I was right, but when the teacher started asking the kid questions I was actually like, cool you tell what's what.

Interesting read, I'm not sure how much this might cross the line for some folks though. So go into it with an open mind or you may be offended.

I read the teacher part, I sure hope teachers don't use that kind of language around kids in real life.

true but I liked the fact that the kid was just rattling off the information like, yeah you think I cheated w\ell this is what I know

That was entertaining.

But

I'll be honest with you though this concept using Jesus and lacing it with profanity doesn't seem too appealing to me considering my own personal beliefs.

true enough and that's why after the first couple of pages I almost quit reading it.

I guess this is a more realistic version of how the world is though, just the way society is nowadays it seems that bad language is more socially accepted, especially when it comes to teenagers they seem to say whatever they can as sort of a rebellious thing.
