A lot of discussion is going on at my Cap site on the return of Steve Rogers. http://www.captain-america.us/messageboard/article729.htm

And from Marvel

Quote:
Over two years ago, Steve Rogers died; this summer, he will be REBORN.

Beginning on July 1, writer Ed Brubaker and artist Bryan Hitch present CAPTAIN AMERICA REBORN, a history-making limited series spinning out of CAPTAIN AMERICA #600, on sale now, and centered on the return of Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, to the Marvel Universe. For Brubaker, it represents a pivotal turning point in a saga he has been building for over five years.

"REBORN is the next chapter in the larger story that I've been building in [CAPTAIN AMERICA] since issue #1," explains the writer, who launched this current volume in 2004. "This is a chance to really explore how things have changed in the years since Steve's death and really delve deep into who Steve Rogers is and why he became Captain America. It's a really a [story] with two or three different plotlines that all intertwine, which is a lot of fun and allows us to have [both] in-your-face action and quiet character moments."

I'm still waiting on my copy of CA 600. Though I do miss Steve Rogers I hate it when they simply bring heroes back to life.

Though in the series there is one of the Red Skull's Captain America clones still running about that is modeled after an early Steve Rogers and doesn't have all the current memories the real one had so maybe he's the one who decides to take up the shield?

I think it's dumb to kill heroes off anyway. They know they have to bring them back so it's just a waste of time. Oh for the days when it only looked like a hero was going to die during a cliff hanger and storylines didn't always last 2 years.

amen to that!

What's Bucky going to do?
Posted:  17 Jun 2009 21:52
Good question, they'll probably re-kill him for another 60 years, or it will turn out he was never Bucky at all to begin with only a clone or a Bucky from an alternate time line.

They better not kill him, the Winter Soldier story was fantastic. Even though I hate when they kill a character I actually like Bucky as Cap. Marvel needs to find a way that doesn't suck to keep him around.

Maybe he could take another name but keep the star spangled look.

whatever happened to U.S. Agent? maybe Bucky could take up his name when Steve comes back?

That might be an idea. I hope he'd keep the gun though.

Thanks Bono for the info. Last I had heard of U.S. Agent was back when he was on the Force Works team. I just hadn't seen anything with him in it for awhile.

So I guess that idea is out then. Hmm we'll just have to wait and see what they do with Bucky. I think he should stay on as Caps partner at least.

Another thought they could give him an updated Bucky costume equipped with fire arms.

Maybe Bucky could kidnap Fighting America and take his place or travel back in time and get Jack Kirby to write him a better/bigger part

I like the time travel idea

Did you read the Fighting American series that Rob Liefeld put out in the late 90's? It was actually the inspiration for Falcon. They never finished it because liefelds Awesome comics venture went belly up.

I always wanted to but never saw it anywhere. I saw the ad for it in Awesome's Supreme relaunch written by Alan Moore. Although I did read that Fighting America was acually co written/created and drawn by Kirby to compete against Captain America.

Yep. Kirby created two characters with basically the same origin and powers and costume, the difference is Fighting American was not so trusting of the government. Sort of like Cap became during Civil War. The series was supposed to be a six part mini but they only got three out. Art was done beautifully by Stephen Platt, the best of his career. I don't remeber who had the writing chores on it though.

Found that on Amazon. Not the same series I have but they also have some of the DC books too.
