Los Angeles (AP) - The Walt Disney Co. said Monday it is buying Marvel Entertainment Inc. for $4 billion in cash and stock, bringing such characters as Iron Man and Spider-Man into the family of Mickey Mouse and Wall-e. Under the deal, Disney will acquire ownership of 5,000 Marvel characters. Many of them, including the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, were co-created by the comic book legend Stan Lee. Analyst David Joyce of Miller Tabak & Co. said the acquisition will help Disney appeal to young men who have flocked to theaters to see Marvel's superhero fare in recent years.... ยป

Does this mean Marvel will be producing Mickey Mouse comics books? Will Spider-man leave Universal Studios in Orlando and webswing over to Disney?

As long as we don't see any Captain America/Goofy crossovers I'm ok with it

I was hoping for Cap meets Donald Duck.

I guess a Gizmo Duck(duck tales)/Iron Man crossover might be pretty cool

I blame the Skrull it's a Secret Invasion, it's Civil War,Super Shareholders vs Superheroes. I hope the Hulk doesn't hear about this. I thought Marvel wanted to make films so they didn't have to panda to Outside Executive Producers sticking their noses in to change things. I really doubt Disney will be content to sit back let Marvel do their thing if it goes against their family image.

Marvel Zombies ride at Disney??

I don't know I think Disney lost a lot of credibility with strict family movie goers and such a long time ago. Their just another company that will do anything for a buck.

In the long run it will probably have it's upsides and downsides. I hope it means some of the older cartoons get released on DVD like Spider-man and his amazing friends and the 80's Hulk.

This link gives a little info on how this deal might effect Marvel based rides at Universal.

Sounds like they are good for as long as Universal wants them.

It still kind of left me thinking Disney might not be able to put Marvel rides at Orlando because of the closeness to Universal.

I'm hoping for a Iron Man/Hannah Montana crossover. Just Imgaine if Iron Man got mad at Hannah Montana because she wouldn't reveal her idenity to him.So then that causes a Civil War 2 Disney shows VS Marvel Comics!
