The alien entity known as Chaos arrived in Wayward City, NJ causing a meteor shower upon his landing. The meteor storm rained death and destruction in its wake. Angry and hell bent on revenge for his previous defeat by the Avenger Corps the alien begins killing every living being in his path and decides to take on a more humanoid form to better blend in.
As Chaos finished his initial rampage he finds himself surrounded by the group of costumed warriors he has harbored a grudge for oh so long. He then changed his naked human appearance into that of a costumed one as well to mock the Avenger Corps. As he did this he waited for their leader to speak first.
“Hold it right there” Captain Midnight ordered “we need you to come with us.”
“Pathetic human I will not be ordered about for I am Chaos! Do thou not remember me?”
As the entity said that he sent forth a blast of nova energy that knocked Captain Midnight off his feet. Luminary dove in with a punch to Chaos’ jaw that only seemed to make the alien mad. Chaos backhanded her sending her body tumbling away into a ’55 Chevy parked nearby. Wraith, Voltage, and Maiden each opened fire then.
Wraith’s large energy rifle sent a beam wide enough to destroy Chaos’ torso but the creature just absorbed it into its skin. Voltage’s thunderbolt and Maiden’s energy pistol managed the same result. That’s when Coyote charged in with his twin hatchets. The blades glowed brightly with spirit energy as he sliced into the alien’s flesh. The entity seemed to wince in pain as if this blow had in fact caused damage but he recovered quickly.
Chaos then unleashed another nova blast incinerating Coyote’s hatchets. As the weapons turned to ash in his hands Coyote paused uncertainly. He had already lost his spirit animal during a previous alien attack when the Clovan had arrived but now to lose the weapons that contained the last of his spirit energy brought him to the brink of despair. He now had no power with which to fight other than his own human strength.
Arcanum’s hellfire revolver barked spewing forth a stream of flame that enveloped Chaos he hoped setting the beast on fire would have the same result it did the last time they fought even though the creature was no longer black and oily. Chaos did seem to burn for a few moments but then began spinning around faster and faster creating a mini tornado that extinguished the flames. He then jetted into the sky and flew off towards the southern horizon.
“Arcanum contact Shadow Hawk. If Chaos continues on that course he’ll head straight over Saint Katherine’s Bay. Maybe the Darkhawks can head him off for us.”
The Citadel…Saint Katherine’s Bay
“Thanks for the heads up, I’ll let big brother know” Jessica Dark acknowledges to Arcanum over the communication channel.
Every since her boyfriend’s death and her killing the sorceress Eliza Trent, Jess has remained in the Citadel working the Sentinel supercomputer in an effort to keep her brother up to date on the criminal activity in the city. The city itself seems to have calmed down somewhat in the aftermath but there were still the occasional crime sprees and super powered villain appearances to keep on top of.
“Citadel calling Shadow Hawk” she said opening a channel to the earpiece built into Shadow Hawk’s mask.
“Go ahead Citadel, read you loud and clear” he replied landing softly on the rooftop of City Hall.
“The Avenger Corps says there is an alien entity headed in our direction and request that you detain it until their arrival.”
“Oh is that all” he asked sarcastically “and how do they propose I stop an alien that their entire team could not?”
“They didn’t say” she answered back “but I’ll radio Raptor and have her provide backup.”
“Shadow Hawk out” John Dark replied signing off.
He understood his sister’s reluctance to put on the suit again. But times like these he wished he had Talon out in the field with him. Raptor was great and the personal relationship the two had formed created a bond between them that nothing could break. But his sister had been trained by him and he was more confident in her abilities as a warrior.
Shadow Hawk activated the telescopic sensors in his masked and began scanning the skies for any humanoid shaped UFOs. He wondered how long it would take for this entity to arrive in his city. Then he saw something small streak across the sky moving almost too fast to catch. It would be over and out of the city in moments. He would have to act quickly.
John fired off several explosive hawk-stars into the sky guesstimating where the alien would be when they exploded. The first one went off in the beings face and the others hit all around him. This caught the alien’s attention for Chaos now stopped midflight and began looking around for his unseen attacker. He caught sight of Shadow Hawk on the rooftop and dived down crashing into him with enough force that the two of them went through the concrete ceiling into the building below.
The impact shattered several of Shadow Hawk’s ribs and caused him a great deal of pain. He activated his wrist blades instinctively and shoved them into the alien’s chest, the movement caused him even more pain but he fought against it trying to retain his focus on the alien entity.
“Pathetic” the alien shouts with glee “your mortal weapons are no match for the power of CHAOS!”
Chaos pulls himself free of the blades and his wounds automatically began regenerating damaged tissue. He then hits Shadow Hawk in the armored face plate with a one two combination punch before leaping back through the whole in the roof of City Hall where he was met with a telekinetic blast from Raptor. The force of the blast sent him falling back into the building he had just escaped from.
Raptor leapt down after him extending her own wrist blades and slamming them into the back of Chaos’ neck. By this time Shadow Hawk and regained his footing and activated the painkilling enzymes that were spread throughout his suit. The medicine was immediately absorbed into his skin where it proceeded to enter his bloodstream. A few seconds later the pain no longer bothered him but he knew he would still need to be careful or his injuries would only get worse. So instead of using his fighting skills he launched some more explosive hawk-stars at Chaos and watched as they exploded pointblank in the alien’s face.
The force threw Raptor away from Chaos and momentarily blinded all three of the combatants. The alien recovered first and flew off through the ceiling where he planned to continue his trek this time turning eastward. Chaos wasn’t even sure why he headed in that direction but some energy source seemed to be calling him there.
Shadow Boy was on the street below when the alien hit the sky. Victor Heavy looked up at the sonic boom that followed in the creature’s wake but by then the sky was empty. He used his metal staff and broke the lock on the door letting himself in City Hall. Once inside he found Shadow Hawk and Raptor shaking their heads to recover their vision.
The Avenger Corps arrived on the scene moments later to find that the alien had managed to escape the city. After surveying the situation and with the eyewitness account of Shadow Boy to the trail from the sonic boom they realized the creature was now over the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
“We need to alert Rook and Seraphim” Maiden spoke up “the creature could be heading to Britain.”
“Whatever we do we need to get moving fast” Captain Midnight said “contact Citadel and have Talon search for a satellite lock on Chaos.”
“Already done” Shadow Hawk said “he’s making a beeline for England alright.” __________________
