Himalayas… Arcanum places Time-stream down in the snow safely outside the cavern. Then he surrounds the injured hero with protective wards before contacting the Midnight Avenger Corps. “Captain, we need to get in touch with the A.T.T.A. I’ve found two of their agents who are trapped up here. One is badly injured. I’m not sure if he’ll survive much longer. I think I’m narrowing in on the energy signature as well. Send back up ASAP.” “Roger that Arcanum. I’ll contact Max at A.T.T.A. H.Q. and then we’ll head your way.” With that the contact was broken and Arcanum headed back inside the darkened passageways to help Cyber Jack. As he found himself back in the chamber where the two men had been held captive he saw Cyber Jack deliver an uppercut to the Abominable Snowman sending the large white beast reeling backwards. But the beast wasn’t beaten just yet it charged back into the fight slamming its full weight into Cyber Jack and slamming the man up against the cavern wall. Arcanum moved forward and slammed his cybernetic fist into the creature’s back. As he connected the metal fist sent out an electrical charge causing the beast to convulse involuntarily. The Snowman released Cyber Jack as it fell to the ground. Its white fur began to glow and in that instant Arcanum realized the Abominable was the source of the mysterious energy signature. The creature’s body altered shape turning into a whirling pool of cosmic energy that threatened to suck them in. “What the hell is happening?” Cyber Jack shouted! “I don’t know but it can’t be good” Arcanum shouted back over the sound of the wind whipping all about them. Just then the two men were sucked into the whirlpool and transported across time and space. The portal dropped them on a large slab of granite that seemed to be floating in outer space. Though this was not space as either of them knew it for instead of blackness dotted by billions of stars they were surrounded by a reddish haze. Cyber Jack & Arcanum both stood near the center of this floating rock afraid that they might fall off if they were to get too close to the edge. “Where the hell are we?” Cyber Jack asked his companion “this is like nothing I’ve ever seen before.” Before Arcanum could even make a guess a large booming voice echoed all around them “you are in the Realm of Phobos!” “Phobos, the Greek God of Fear?” Arcanum asked now “but Phobos is just a myth.” “Ah I see you mortals still read the garbage that sprang forth from the mouths of the ancient poets. I will show you that I am no mere myth!” And with that the slab of rock where the two men currently resided began to shake violently knocking them both off balance. Arcanum dug his cybernetic hand into the granite creating a handhold while Cyber Jack did the same with his superior strength. The edges of the granite crumbled away creating an even smaller ledge for them to rest on. As the two men watched the rock chip away they saw the pieces disintegrate as it hit the hazy red void all around them. “I can sense your fear building” came the large disembodied voice “you are both afraid of falling into the abyss. As you should be” Phobos said laughing now. Back on Earth outside the Himalayan cavern… Captain Midnight arrives along with Davey Crockett and Robin Hood via wormhole created by Max at A.T.T.A. H.Q. The trio expected to find some sign of their comrades but instead found only the mouth of a cave. There was no wounded man lying in the snow outside only an imprint of where he had lain previously. “What do you make of that?” Captain Midnight asked “I was told your operative was in pretty bad shape. Do you think he could’ve moved away from here on his own?” Davey Crockett bent down to study the tracks in the snow “he didn’t walk out but it looks like he did open up a wormhole.” “Alright let’s head inside the cave. That’s where Arcanum said he and Cyber Jack found the snowman.” “This reminds me of the time Little John and I were sneaking into the secret passageways that ran beneath Nottingham Castle.” “Not another one of your stories Hood” Crockett groaned “if you don’t shut up right now I’ll have to show you how I took out that bear when I was three.” “Enough” Captain Midnight ordered “we need to keep it quiet. There’s no telling what might lie ahead.” Just as they were about to step foot in the chamber a brightly clad figure appeared in a burst of light before their eyes “Time-Stream” Robin Hood greeted. “Don’t go any further” Time-Stream warned “the other two are no longer inside.” “How did your limbs mend?” Crockett asked. “Medicine in the future resembles what would be called a miracle in the here and now. Once outside my powers came back and I was able to transport myself to the distant future where doctors mended my wounds in minutes. But that is not the most important thing right now. If you step foot inside the inner chamber you too will be transported far away from here.” “What are you going on about?” Captain Midnight demanded “one of my team is in there and I will get him back out.” “The Abominable Snowman is a gate keeper. If you manage to subdue the beast you will be sent to an alternate dimension known as the Realm of Phobos. That is where your man Arcanum and Cyber Jack are currently being held.” “Then we must follow them” Crockett said quickly. “The gate is a one way portal” Time-Stream explained “if you go through, you do not come back.” “We must rescue them from the clutches of evil” Robin Hood stated “what do you suggest we do?” “They will have to rescue themselves” Time-Stream replied sadly “only by defeating Phobos can they return and speaking of returning I must return to my own time. I’ve been gone far too long. Tell Max it was a pleasure working with him.” In another flash of light the time traveler was gone leaving the other three alone in the darkened corridor. They could hear the creature stirring from his chamber deeper into the cave and looked at each other trying to decide upon a course of action. “Any ideas” Crockett asked? “Are we to believe Time-Stream and leave them to their fate? Or should we chance going after them?” Hood asked. “I have faith in Arcanum’s abilities” Captain Midnight spoke “if anyone can find away to cross through dimensional barriers I believe he can do it. For now I suggest we wait and give them time to make their own way back.” The Realm of Phobos… Arcanum and Cyber Jack find themselves standing back to back on the small slab of granite that now remains beneath their feet. The disembodied voice continues laughing its mocking laughter. “If I could just see the SOB I’d punch him in the face!” Cyber Jack yells out. Arcanum speaks softly a few words and an energy field surrounds the two men lifting them off the granite slab “that takes care of one problem.” The two men hover suspended in the air as the last of the slab crumbles away beneath their feet, the voice of Phobos stops laughing and turns to a shout of anger “how dare you stay alive! I demand blood sacrifices and I will have them!” With that declaration the two men found themselves in a stone prison with a pendulum of axe blades swinging above their heads. The blades moved down towards them at an agonizingly slow pace. Arcanum reinforced the barrier to try and protect them from the blades. “Drop the barrier” Cyber Jack said “I can take care of the axes.” With the swinging blades just six feet above their heads Arcanum dropped the shield. Cyber Jack waited until they were within his grasp and grabbed hold of the blades with his hands. Using his massive muscles he forced the blades to stop their swing and ripped them off the pendulum. Dropping one blade he grasped the other in both hands and swung it with all his might tearing down one of the stone walls. “NOOOOO!!!!” Phobos shouted out “this can’t be!!! I got it for you dude. Interesting story. Big cast of characters. Glad to see my Cyber Jack in there. I never got enough of him in my stories. He's kind of like a bionic Nick Fury.
