Image Comics has unveiled Greg Capullo's variant cover for Image United #2, due in stores on Dec. 23.

"When it came time to choose an artist for our next guest variant, Greg Capullo was the first guy who came to mind," Image Comics publisher Eric Stephenson said. "From his early days following Todd (McFarlane) on Spawn to his creator-owned series Creech and his work on Haunt, Greg has become nearly as synonymous with Image Comics as any of the founders. Besides that, he's also a phenomenal cover artist in his own right. We're thrilled to have him on board."

Capullo's cover features the heroes of Image United combating the series' big bad, Omega Spawn, as reflected in the mini-series' opener.

I can see Savage Dragon, Bedrock, Ripclaw, Witchblade I think and err.. ShadowHawk!! Don't known the archer guy?

I have 2 copies of Creech. I find his artwork sometimes it's hard to see where the background ends and the character begins.

The Maxx cartoon was pretty cool!

Anyway seeing the pic reminds me yet again that someone else created a Shadowhawk first and his costume is way cooler than my characters

Don't feel bad there was Time Rider movie out in the 80's about a guy on a motorcycle that went back to the western days. Not exactly a superhero, but you know. Besides your costume design is as good as the image one.

Image United has exceeded expectations and word filtering out of Image says that the surprises aren’t over yet. The just announced Image United: Interlude series Invincible and a shadowy group of people behind him joining in the fray between the original characters of Image. Word is that it marks the inclusion of the new generation of Image heroes into the fight – Invincible and more. The amalgam effort by the seven creators involved has already shown to be a unique experiment that any film adaptation couldn’t hope to match, showing seven friends coming home prodigal son-style.
