I wonder what you have to do to copyright your own character? Like if I made up a character and a story and put it on this site could anyone just take it and make money off of it without me getting anything?
The reason I ask is I've sort of thought up my own comic book character that I think might be ok.

it countas. but you may have to renew every year. i cant be sure.

I think I'll have to break down and do some research on it. I would need a lot of time to do what I want to do with a character. I'd like to make a complete comic book and put it online.

Well not really, I used to draw a lot years ago, but I have a few story ideas in mind that I think would be cool. So if I can just get it into a computer page I would be happy.
Maybe I need to find somebody that can draw it for me I don't know.

Well I hate to say much. I kind would like to have it down on paper first. Presentation is everything. Just the concept itself might not seem like at all that much, but basically I want to create a hero who time travels. I'm fascinated by time travel stories. I've thought of some ideas of why the character has to go through time and who sends him of which I think I would keep the who sends him a secret for as long as possible to keep the suspense up.

you have to keep it real enough though, because exiles is way too out for me, and if he has like a girlfriend in the real time, you wouldn't want to leave fans wanting.:)

No tragic death as of yet
mask but no spandex at this time
no team, but other characters who are responsible for his powers.
Yes to main villain although I think I might kill the villain off once he gets boring
Rogues gallery might happen naturally.
I have the basic storyline I think I need to work on what the character would wear. I'm thinking mask with long jacket. Something kind of 1940's retro
I'll tell you this much. He's from the past, he's old fashioned and in your face, but very polite to ladies kind of like Captain America but without any baggage of political correctness. Bad guys that murder, he will shoot or kill without losing a night's sleep. An innoccent bystander get's hurt and he'll never get over it.
I just got to find the time to start putting it on paper or on the computer. I looked at the copyright laws and they state as soon as a person puts something to paper or on a computer file it's technically copyrighted, but you can sue for more money if you license it of which only cost 30 bucks. So I think I will probably end up doing that once I get it worked out.
Go to copyright.gov it's wierd. Believe it or not, and I'm not making this up. There is a paragraph on copyrighting Elvis sightings within the site. I repeat. I'm not making it up.

probably like a robin type mask, I keep going back an forth from a trench coat type of jacket to a brown leather jacket like world war 2 pilots might wear. Kind of like what Hogan's Heroes dude wore, but his shirt and pants might be more futuristic.
I was trying to work on creating a picture yesterday evening, I'm pretty slow.

Yeah, I'm thinking so. Here's a possibility I've been pondering. What if he has the trench coat which allows him to pull any weapon he wants from it by just thinking about it? He's going to have super strength too, but how much I haven't decided yet. Maybe enough to survive getting hit by a semi truck. What do you think?

yeah that seems to be the going rate. in fact you could test it in yer comic by actually having that happen and refer back to it when the strength question comes up.
