Shinobi Blade tracked Shadow Hawk down and found him preparing to take City Hall by storm. He was already surrounded by the SWAT team and the Army National Guard was arriving by truckload. Shadow Hawk laughed an eerie laugh and his eyes flashed green. The closest vans and patrol cars burst into flames.
“Time I get to be the hero” Shinobi Blade said to himself and then leapt onto the scene “calm yourself down!”
“You have no chance to defeat me ninja. This is no concern of yours!”
“Fists of Flame” Shinobi Blade shouted and his hands ignited in orange fire!
He lunged at Shadow Hawk preparing to sear his enemy but the newly empowered John Dark flew up into the air to dodge the attack. Then he flew down, fists in front of him, preparing to drive Shinobi Blade through the pavement. But the ninja master’s lightning fast reflexes saved his life and he punched Shadow Hawk in the back with a flaming fist.
The magical fire burned through Shadow Hawk’s flame retardant cape and burned his skin. Shadow Hawk lifted Shinobi Blade up with one hand and flung him into the columns that stood around the courtyard of the government building causing it to collapse and crush the ninja beneath its weight.
Ryu Kamakura shouted from beneath the rubble “body of stone” and his skin became hard as rock granting him some level of protection as well as superhuman strength!
He pushed the pile off of himself and tackled Shadow Hawk squeezing his arms together in an effort to immobilize the enraged vigilante. Shadow Hawk roared with unrelenting fury and broke free of the hold. Then he grabbed Shinobi Blade’s head in his fists and tried to crush the ninja’s skull. Only his impervious stone skin saved him and Ryu was grateful he had learned the ways of shinobi magic.
The fight continued with neither able to get the upper hand. Shadow Hawk had gained superhuman power but was so infuriated that he had no sense of tactics or skill. He fought clumsily relying solely on his power. Which gave Shinobi Blade the advantage as he nimbly avoided most of the attacks. But he could not land very many of his own either.
Then Shadow Hawk played dirty. His eyes flashed emerald and Shinobi Blade’s body caught on fire. But this fire unlike his magical fire and it burned intensely. The ninja master dropped to one knee as he frantically beat at the flames with his hands. The fire charred through his stone skin to the flesh beneath. How could his nemesis do this? They had fought many times but never had they actually tried to kill one another.
“Now you will feel my wrath ninja. And you will be consumed by the all destroying Fire of Prometheus!”
A fire truck rolled into the parking lot and firefighters started dowsing Shinobi Blade with water attempting to combat the flames. Shadow Hawk turned his rage on them readying to unleash more of the fire until he was hit in the shoulder with an ebony energy burst which knocked him off his feet. A figure descended from the sky slowly. His battle gauntlets emitting a black power that could topple the gods themselves which is what it did here.
Shadow Hawk dropped in agony then he turned his eyes towards the source. Captain Midnight landed beside him shaking his head sorrowfully. The intergalactic soldier had not wanted to strike his friend but could not let innocents be harmed either. Shadow Hawk lunged at him, wrist blades extended, aiming for Midnight’s heart.
Captain Midnight blocked with his gauntlets which shrugged the blow off without any damage then he delivered an uppercut to Shadow Hawk’s jaw. The blow sent the vigilante sailing up into the air where Captain Midnight flew up and caught him then drove him into the pavement below with such force that it caused a crater.
“Stay down Shadow Hawk” Captain Midnight ordered “I really don’t want to hurt you but I will if you leave me no choice!”
“You dare speak to a Son of Jupiter that way?”
What the hell was Shadow Hawk rambling about? Son of Jupiter, Captain Midnight had no idea what he was referring too. The confusion took him off guard long enough for Shadow Hawk to kick him in the stomach with a powerful leg. The superhuman muscles delivered a force that caused the soldier to hurl backwards crashing into the fire truck.
Shadow Hawk laughed at the downed hero “you are no match for Djo Krahn and you never will be!”
With that he flew off towards the horizon leaving Cole Turner to shake his head and dust himself off “just who is Djo Krahn?” he wondered.
Later at the Hawk’s Nest…
“I came as soon as I got the message” Captain Midnight consoled Raptor “I don’t know how he got those powers but I will do everything I can to put a stop to his rampage.”
“I know you will” she replied with a weak smile and laid her head on his shoulder “I’m just so tired and I don’t know what to do anymore. He’s so strong and so angry.”
