Midas Mayhem surveyed the battlefield. His front law was littered with corpses both his own troops and those of the Scarlet Archon’s. So his old foe had thrown his hat in with Molinaro’s would be usurpers. Midas would not let that go unpunished. The Archon would pay for his treachery.
He turned his thoughts elsewhere to better things. Midas realized he was lucky to have Bombshell overseeing his army. It was her leadership that had helped halt their adversaries. She would be rewarded and he would make sure she was there by his side when he launched his own attack on Molvina.
“You did well” he told her “well enough to be promoted to General of Molinaro’s forces.”
Bombshell swelled with pride and then she bowed “thank you my liege.”
Midas took her chin in his fingers and lifted her face to his “no thank you” he said then kissed her on the lips.
She was surprised but happy. Happier than she had been in years. Her lord finally saw her true potential. Melanie allowed herself the pleasures of his kiss for a long moment before pulling away. She turned her head to hide the color that spread across her cheeks.

“Okay so where do we sit?” Mr. Master asked Devastator “don’t tell me the Triumvirate is in tatters. If Echelon ruined us I swear he will die by my hand.”
Devastator smirked “not to worry I believe you killed him on the battlefield. And if not I’m sure Mayhem will deal with him. Besides we can rebuild. Rad and Counter-Spy will recover. And Fade even took out one of the so called heroes who tried to help Mayhem.”
Mr. Master nodded in contemplation “good. Please tell Fade that he is now a member of the first tier. The three of us should be able to rebuild the Triumvirate in no time. It still doesn’t sit well me that we lost. But that was due to poor leadership. If Echelon would have let us fallback we could have found a way to win this one.”
“Fade will be pleased at his promotion” Devastator replied in good humor “the battle was lost but we did gain a foothold in Europe. Molvina has been opened to us by the Scarlet Archon. We can regroup there and strategize.”
Mr. Master smiles “and I would very much like to see what the Scarlet Archon has been up to. Perhaps it will benefit us as well.”

Echelon struggled to get up and found himself strapped to a concrete slab by leather bands. With his might he should easily be able to break free but found he could not. So he settled for taking in his surroundings with his eyes. And he found himself in a small room with Midas Mayhem standing over him.
“Awe you’re awake. How good of you not to die on me. Some friends you had back there” he said with a smirk “they left you for dead. Heck one of them attempted to kill you himself. But no matter, you are now under my power and I will find out exactly what makes you tick.”
“What have you done to my abilities?” Echelon slurred his words together as if he had been drugged.
“Power dampeners courtesy of the late Osprey, though how much of your powers are nullified I do not know for certain. But enough it seems to keep you easily restrained.”
The great one formerly known to the world as Cthulhu retreated into his own mind searching for any of his power that still dwelled within. He found what he was looking for and grabbed hold of it then he summoned his remaining strength and shifted his face once more to that of a squid.
The tentacles on his face shot forth and wrapped themselves around Midas’ own and pulled the human towards him. Midas Mayhem struggled but a moment and then his eyes glazed over. Echelon’s own body went limp as if the life had just been drained from it.
Then a gleam of malevolent glee flickered behind Midas Mayhem’s eyes as he came too. Echelon had succeeded in the mind transference. This human may not have super powers but he has an entire country at his command. Echelon would use that to plan his new domination of Earth. Starting with taking out Molvina for he now had no more use for the Scarlet Archon. Midas Mayhem’s own mind winked out of existence as his body was taken over by the hostile alien creature.
