Brennon/Rook/Knights Templar Scene Written By Midnight Avenger
"Time-Rider said you're leaving with him," Burning Fury said.
Huntress watched Brennon warily, keeping her emotions well guarded. She didn't reveal what she thought of him leaving the team.
"Since I arrived in your time, I've been looking for a way back--back to the day I was lost at sea so that I can get back the days that I lost," Brennon explained.
"I understand, Brennon," Burning Fury said, and thrust out his hand.
Huntress glared at him. She was clearly bitter about Brennon's decision. While Burning Fury would bear him no ill feeling, this still felt wrong.
* * * * *
It was a dark room. Three men: two swordsmen, and one archer, entered, each at different times, and all were alone.
"I think I know why we're here," Rook said.
"Does anyone know you're here?" asked Brennon cautiously.
"No. I didn't even tell Ashley."
"Good. It's best if this meeting stays between the three of us."
"I don't understand. Why must we keep secrets from our friends?"
"It is not a question of trust, Brother. This secret is kept for the sake of everyone--our friends included. He held out two pieces of the magical sword, Zandrexyn. "I'm trusting you both with the safekeeping of Zandrexyn. After what happened with Captain Mysterious, I don't have to tell any of you how important it is that the sword is never assembled again."
"We all know the danger of letting the sword fall into the wrong hands, Brennon," replied Rook. "It could have been much worse. What if it was some other villain like Death Mask, someone who is much more corrupt than Captain Mysterious, who unleashed Zandrexyn's power?"
"That is why we mustn't take any chances. More dark forces will come seeking the sword in the future. There will always be corrupt souls looking for the power to rule the world. They will use any means of manipulation to achieve their goal. That's why I want you both to hide each piece, and don't tell me or each other where you've hidden them."
A moment of silence passed between them as he handed the hilt to Rook and the blade to Kreuzritter. The three warriors exited the room without speaking a word. Each was aware of the significance of what had just taken place. What transpired in that room was a secret that would remain unspoken.

"I'm glad you all came," Thunder Man said, scanning the faces of the heroes in the room with him. Rook, Blackbird, Furemeister, Deutscher Sieger, Big N, Sphinx, and Black Centurion were all present.
"What is this all about?" asked Rook.
"I came back to Russia because the head-honchos of the SDL thought it would be a good idea if they had a team they could count on present here in Europe. Because obviously the main branch can't be everywhere. What happened with Captain Mysterious is proof of this. Without us, Captain Mysterious may never have been stopped. What I'm saying is, is that I think we can be a team. Whenever another threat arises, we can be there to stop it."
There were nods from everyone in the room. He grinned in spite of himself. With all the destruction that Richard had caused, at least one good thing came out of all of it. Now whenever there was darkness in this part of the world, there would be at least some manner of assurance for the people of Europe that there would be heroes there to defend it.

He awoke to a splitting headache. He slowly opened his eyes to see a dimly lit room, empty of any decorations. There were no windows, and the only exit was a steel door. When he tried to stand, he felt a sudden pain in his back. It was then that he remembered the fight. He looked down at his hands, which were wrapped in bandages. It still hurt to even move his fingers.
As he looked around he glimpsed a small camera in the corner of the room. Someone was probably watching him right now. Who was his captor, and what did he want with him?
He lifted his hand to blast open the door, but found that his magic powers were not responding to his thoughts. Whoever it was that had imprisoned him here, had the technology to create a cell that could contain his magic powers. Here he was powerless.
"Who are you?" he yelled. He directed his desperation at the camera, as if the object itself were his captor. "Let me out of here!" He stood there motionless, waiting. No answer. "I demand to know the identity of my captor!" he shouted. "I will not be a prisoner here!" Still there was no reply.
Hours passed, and a frantic and miserable Richard Fontaine sat against the wall of the cell. When he had begun to give up hope, the door slowly opened. As more light entered the room, he watched a figure clad in crimson armor pass the threshold of the chamber.

Brennon walked to the Chevy that was parked outside Carrion Castle. Time-Rider was leaning against the hood.
"Ready to go?" the superhero asked.
"I can't," Brennon said, looking down.
"What? I thought you wanted to go back to your own time?"
"I do. More than you can possibly know. But it feels wrong to leave. The Champions of Justice are left with only two members. Captain Mysterious has turned traitor, the Fist is in a coma, and Starblast is dead. They need me. No matter how much I want to leave, I can't abandon them now."
Brennon heard a voice call out his name. He turned around to see the Rook and the other members of the Knights Templar approach him.
“Brennon, I know the battle has just been won but I would like to take this opportunity” the Rook began in front of all their companions “as Grand Master of the Knights Templar I would like to offer you an honorary position within our order.”
“Honorary position?” Brennon asked unsure as to what he was asking.
“Don’t worry friend Brennon” Ethan replied “I know you are a loner and would not ask you to give up your solitary journey. But as a member of the Templar I grant you access to our resources and our aid whenever you should have need of them. In return I would expect you to come whenever we called upon you in times of dire need.”
Brennon thought it over for a moment and extended his hand towards Ethan. The two men shook and Brennon spoke “I humbly accept your offer friend Ethan. I would be honored to count all of you as sword brothers...and sisters” he added that last part for Blackbird.
“Then it is settled” Ethan said raising his voice “let it be known to all present that Brennon is now a member of the Knights Templar.”
