Well I have a lot of mixed feelings.
The movie was good as far as effects and acting. It's definitely one of the best this year, but for a Superman movie I expected more amazing scenes like the awesome plane rescue at the beginning of the movie.
The earthquake scene was great but it should have lasted a lot longer. Too much time was spent on character development and mushy sensitive junk which is ok but not at the expense of the super hero action which is why we watch the movie to begin with.
Don't get me wrong we have to identify with the characters to enjoy the movie, but most of this was about the love triangle.
The other thing I didn't like was what I didn't even realize until it was brought to my attention on the supermantv.net board. The writers publicly announced that the American way slogan which I did notice was missing from the movie was purposely taken out to make foreign audiences happy.
That was the stupidest left wing commie thing I've ever heard of. I guess they were afraid to even let Superman fly around with a flag for crying out loud.
Like I said though that is something that you might not catch watching the movie. It's more about the deranged logic behind the writers hippie motivations.
But still having said all that the movie will be a classic maybe not as good as the first but still a classic. I just hope these writers understand that Superman fans expect him to be an American first and foremost because Americans just like Superman are the ones who for the most part go around helping out our foreign neighbors to begin with. Perhaps the world would benefit knowing who they have to thank. So even if they don't like it, put the American flag in their faces till they get used to it.
