Those kind of stories are very interesting, but you know what I'm thinking would be the newest wrinkle in comics would be to go back to the noble patriotic hero who does have the right idea about everything.
Somehow make the character believeable and human at the same time, but someone people could admire if he were real. A character that believes in right and wrong and could care less about political correctness which could make the character at odds with mainstream society. Someone who doesn't doubt his ideals, but isn't arrogant enough to believe he's always right about everything, but not stupid enough to change frames of mind with the wind like a modern day politician. It would never be his ideals in question but perhaps the best way in which those ideals are carried out.
