The Fantastic Four made 56 million dollars this weekend. Take that Roger Ebert! They were expecting around the 30 million dollar range, but got a lot more than they expected. Batman is still doing good coming in third with a little over 10 million dollars bringing it's total to 175,105,000. So it looks like super hero movies are going to be coming our way a little while longer with these kind of numbers.

Do you have an explanation for this fairly recent success of superhero movies?

The effects have caught up with the comic book world. Before the things that happened in the comic book stories were way beyond the scope of movie makers. I think the biggest thing is also the fact comic book fans are a loyal bunch that love to see their favorite characters on screen. They are the biggest reason behind the box office numbers. Of course another huge factor. Kids love the movies. Even kids that don't like to read comics, mainly because they don't like to read, love the characters and special effects.

I'd like to know who the majority age of the viewers for the real life comic book hero's. I would guess that most of the viewer are the age of 35 yrs to 55 years of age. I'm 46 and still remember watching them as a kid and thinking how cool it would be if these animated hero's would come to real life. Cool man!!!! I think the movie makers have a good thing going for them if they stick to the transferance of animation to real life. You haven't seen any thing yet as far as $$$$ if they do!

You may have a point, but I think a lot of kids love the onscreen version of comic book heroes that wouldn't necessarily read comics. Kids don't read as much as they used to, unfortunately.
