Just rented the The Fountain and to me it really stunk. Sure it had great acting, and good visuals up to a point, but I shouldn't have to play detective to figure out what the ending was all about. Literally it took me 20 minutes after I watched the movie to grasp what the point was, and I'm still not completely sure because the movie never really points to a conclusion that makes sense.

Basically though I think the gist is he's in love, his wife dies, and he finds a way to live forever. He plants a seed in her grave, the tree grows and sometime way in the future he and the tree travel to a dying star she pointed out to him before she died. But the stupid thing is you have to deduce this. It's like a bad acid trip, or one of those weird dreams you have when you get too hot at night. Jackman does a great job of showing emotion and drama here, but this is the worst poorly executed movie I've ever seen. Although if you really are having a hard time sleeping, I highly recommend watching this one at bedtime.

yeah, i sometimes like thougth provokers but when it provokes thoughts that don't provide any conclusions and it sdeems like someone just put their thoughts into a big movie, it sucks.  my brother said he saw it and it wasn't very good.  everyone's just so desperate for a good movie on dvd anymore, it's been months since there's been a good one.  ghost rider comes out june 12th though.
