Well here we go!  Season 3 has started, not all of the art work is in my hands but I hope to get it around the end of the summer, or Late September at the latest.  Meanwhile, enjoy!

Chapter 29; Short-Circuited
------------------------------

After a couple hours of lying in the rubble underneath the erratic pounding rain, Ohm slowly gets to his feet.  He tries to fly, but all the energy he can generate is a small spark.  'No…' repeatedly flows through his mind as he looks for a phone booth.  He spots one and limps over to it completely powerless and weak.  Unable to support his weight, he falls crying out in pain.  Getting back up with great difficulty, he slowly calls Stan.

Ohm: Stan… help, Drake--energy lost, Sussex and… errgaaahhh. (Ohm falls to the ground unconscious)

    Stan: Ohm? Ohm!

Will is in the computer room in full costume but without his mask on.  He scans the computer pages looking at possible devices taken by Drake.  Page after page pops up with different devices each with its unique property.  Unable to narrow it down, he slams his fist on the dashboard, 'Damn, which one?' He mutters.  Stan runs down the hallway and makes a sharp left turn and places his hand against the wall, a box about the size of his hand retreats into the wall spinning around and comes back out to reveal an intercom system.  He hastily presses the button.

Stan: Will! Ohm's in trouble, speed down Sussex and try to find him near a phone!

    Will: On it!

Oxi flips on his mask and runs up and onto his bike; clicking it on and sounding the engine he speeds of toward the thin ramp leading to the underground exit.  Pressing a button on his bike, the door in front of him opens into a sewer pipe and Oxi heads out of it and onto the road.  A few minutes later he spots Ohm lying half way in the phone booth.  'Hang on buddy,' Oxi says as he picks him up and straps him up on to the bike.  On the way back Ohm mutters something to Oxi.

    Ohm: P..powe..r… dr..drained… drain… c..c… cold…

Oxi begins to seriously worry about Ohm, 'Almost there, just a little farther' he whispers.  Disobeying the rules of the road, he speeds back through the city along the outside and makes his way into the tunnel.  Activating the switch on his bike, the tunnel opens and speeding through, it closes behind him.  Oxi fish-tails his bike next to a table where Stan is waiting.  They lift Ohm onto the table where Stan begins to punch in keys on the key pad on the stand next to him.  Five large rings come up over the side of the table and stand about three feet over Ohm.  Oxi removes his mask and the top of his costume, Stan hands him small circular pads and he sticks them on Mike's chest, forehead, neck, and sides.

Stan: Starting scan. (The rings glow blue and the table illuminates) 25% done… 50%… 75%… (The computer dings)

Oxi: Vitals normal, heart rate stable, breathing, (Turning to Stan) he looks fine?

Stan: No, he doesn't. (Stan says pointing to his screen) His entire body is acting like it’s drained, his electro-chemical reaction speed is far slower than normal, and his nervous system isn't sending signals as fast as it should be.  If he stays like this for too long he burnout completely.

Will: (Taking off his mask) So, we need to charge him up?

Stan: Yes, but there's one problem; we don't have enough energy to get him back up to normal.

Will: Can I get him to a power plant?

Stan: (Shaking his head) He needs a massive amount of energy to shock him out of this state-- *Beep Beep Beep*

    Will: What was that?

Stan: (Walking to the computer) I ran a search on Eddie, see if we could use anything from his past against him, obvious the computer found something. (Opens up the article on the computer) It would seem that he lied. (Will looks at him confused) Drake's real name is John… Drake.

Will: His last name is Drake?

Stan: (Nodding) He is a small owner of an astronomy corporation, a science corporation… (Scrolling down the list) He--seems to own a small corporation, in every science.  It's almost as if he was looking for something.

Will: Well judging by his darker counterpart I'd say he found it.

Stan: Well he certainly fits the profile.  Bad childhood, father left him, mother was killed in a car accident, he grew up with foster parents who practically denied his exsistence.  He was married once about a year ago, she left him after she found out about, quote, his unquenchable thirst for power.

Will: We need to tell Mike.

Stan: First we need to make sure he lives for the next 24 hours because--that is all he has till he burns out…

Oh, Duck is a friend outside of the online world.

There's probablly some joke that she remembered that I forgot.

No, the way you wrote that was evil. Come on, you only advanced the story far enough to say that they're looking for you! What happened to the action? And then you leave a cliffhanger with absolutely no solution in sight! If you're going to do cliffhangers, at least put a possible solution in there. "The only way to get that much energy is if he's struck by a bolt of lightning," "There's only one generator in the world even close to powerful enough," something like that.

My apologies, Tim. I edit most of my friends' stories harshly, and Ohm is no exception.

So I kept you guessing?

If I recall--that's what good stories do.

I thought he carried the story really well here.  Ohm (left out in the elements in the cliffhanger), managed to contact his friends for help, they found him and are doing what they can to restore their friend.  Also, we had more information to drive the story.  Don't get me wrong, the action stuff (fights and what not) are great, but fights w/o substance are hard to follow.

Easy, all you got to do is click on the image button above the message box and hopefully if it works on your browser a box pops up where you can paste the image address in http://supermantv.net/faces/joking.jpg.
