"Iron Man" to hit DVD stores on September 30
Friday August 8 4:59 AM ET

The superhero smash "Iron Man" will be released September 30 on DVD and Blu-ray Disc, distributor Paramount Pictures said Friday.

With North American sales of $316 million, the Robert Downey Jr. movie is the second-biggest movie of the year, behind "The Dark Knight."

"Iron Man" is the second in what could be as many as 18 theatrical features to be announced for the home entertainment market in the lucrative fourth quarter, and its arrival in stores one day before the official start of the fourth quarter indicates it likely will be the first.

Paramount is releasing "Iron Man" as a two-disc "Ultimate Edition" on DVD and Blu-ray. Each includes a seven-part making-of documentary and a six-part feature on the origins of the Marvel superhero.

Other extras include a documentary on the film's visual effects; Robert Downey Jr.'s original screen test; deleted and extended scenes; a photo gallery of concept art; and behind-the-scenes images on the set.

The Blu-ray presentation also offers several additional extras, including a "Hall of Armor" that lets viewers zoom in on any of the three Iron Man suits, or Iron Monger, and then activate digital 3-D schematics to check out every weapon. They also can fly around each suit to explore it in great detail. Also included is a BD-Live Web application, "Iron Man IQ," that lets users create and share new multiple-choice quizzes based on clips from the film.

A single-disc "Iron Man" DVD also will be issued, with just the movie and the deleted and extended scenes.

"Flash Gordon" pace quickens with scribes
Friday August 8 1:06 AM ET

"Flash Gordon" is moving ahead at breakneck speed.

Sony has signed scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless to write the script for a new take on the outer space tale, just a few months after winning rights to the title from Hearst.

"Flash Gordon" centers on a young polo player who is kidnapped and taken to the distant planet Mongo, where he and companions Dale Arden and Hans Zarkov embark on a series of adventures fighting a ruler named Ming the Merciless.

Sony's "Flash," a live-action film, follows in a 75-year tradition across many media for what began life as Alex Raymond's comic strip; the property was a movie serial in the 1930s, a Sam Jones-toplined feature in 1980 and a recent Sci Fi Channel series.

Sazama and Sharpless are penning the vampire tale "Dracula Year Zero" for Universal, and "300" director Zack Snyder's "Cobalt 60."

The new "Flash" originally had been set up at Universal, but rights reverted to Hearst's King Features Syndicate after the project sat in development for several years.

It was past midnight. Every person in the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters was fast asleep, except for one brawny man with wild hair.
Logan stepped quietly down the stairs, occasionally glancing to the left or right. He didn’t want to wake anyone. He was not good at goodbyes. A battered leather rucksack hung from his left shoulder, packed with only the essentials: A spare change of clothes, a pack of matches, and several bottles of whiskey. Logan wasn’t bringing any food. He’d catch his own in the forest. As Logan made his way into the garage he absentmindedly rubbed the flesh between his knuckles.

Scott’s motorcycle was right where it always was. Recently waxed, the bike glistened in the faint garage lights. Logan smiled. Scott hated it when Logan borrowed his bike without asking, thus Logan borrowed Scott’s bike without asking. Logan mounted the motorcycle. A shiny blue helmet hung from the tilted handlebars of the bike. Logan shoved it off and it fell to the floor with a dull clunk. If there was one thing Logan did not need, it was a helmet. He had one custom built right into his skull.

Logan gunned the engine and rocketed out of the garage.

Logan pushed the bike to its limit. He was rocketing around curves and zooming down the roads at over 125mph. No normal person could go that fast on a motorcycle around such curves and live to talk about it. But then, Logan wasn’t normal. His mutant abilities gave him heightened senses and reflexes. And he wasn’t afraid to fall. Fear is crippling, but Logan crippled fear.

After hours of high speed driving, Logan arrived at his destination. His already feral-looking hair was even wilder. He propped the bike up on its kickstand and faced the edge of the woods. He’d leave the bike where it was. The high tech security system installed in it would keep any would-be-thieves away from it.

Logan closed his eyes and inhaled deeply. The scents of the forest came rushing at him. Logan could smell a group of campers several miles away, four men and a bloodhound. Hunters. There was another scent…something…Logan couldn’t place it.

He opened his eyes. The sun was not yet rising, but the night was brighter. Logan hung his rucksack across his chest and stepped past the first trees. It was darker under the cover of the trees. The forest was silent. The only noises were the crunching of twigs and dry leaves beneath Logan’s boots.

He had no particular destination. He just wanted to be alone. Logan felt that he was wearing the nerves of everyone at the mansion thin, and had decided to take a trip into the wilderness. He’d actually come to the decision earlier that very night while lying awake in his bed. He knew some people would be worried. Logan hoped Jean would miss him, although he buried that thought. No doubt the Professor would find him with cerebro and put everyone’s minds at ease.

The first rays of sunshine began breaking through the canopy of leaves and branches overhead. Birds began to chirp merry songs and Logan saw squirrels scurrying up and down tree trunks. But as he was walking, Logan noticed that the birds became gradually silent and the squirrels stood still, ears pricked up, listening to something. Logan stopped walking and glanced around. His nostrils twitched, sniffing the air. Logan’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion. What the hell? He barely had time to contemplate the origins of this strange scent before he was deafened by a shockwave and slammed into a tree. Darkness.

There he is.” Drake Sanders whispered, shouldering his rifle. Hidden in a cluster of bushes, he was invisible to the oblivious deer. It was just standing in a small clearing practically asking to have a bullet put through it. Drake lined up the shot. The deer suddenly went rigid, head up in the air, ears perked. It bolted before Drake could pull the trigger. “Damn it!”
Drake stood up and spat. He was a large man, his flannel shirt barely containing his plump belly. He took off his hat and wiped his forehead. He wondered what had spooked the deer as he lit up a cigarette. He only smoked on these camping trips where his wife couldn't bitch about it. God, was he glad to get away from her for a few days. He happened to glance up at the sky and glimpse what looked like a huge, spiraling, metal croissant. “My God...” Drake said limply just before the craft disappeared below the horizon where sky met tree. The cigarette fell from his mouth. With a deafening WHAM he was blown backward off his feet and hit his head on a low branch.

Drake came back to consciousness slowly. He saw three blurry shapes standing above him, talking excitedly. As Drake opened his mouth to speak, he felt the excruciating pain in his head and moaned.

“Hey, he’s awake. Drake, bud, I think you’ve got a concussion. Did you see that thing?” Drake groggily stood up, the world still a haze. He could smell something though, smelled like smoke.

“We have to check it out, man. We have to.”

Drake recognized his friend’s voices. Chuck, Brady, and Chris were all looking in the direction of the crash, practically ignoring Drake.

“I’m fine, thanks. What the hell happened?"

Brady whooped excitedly. "Didn't you see it, Tubby? The fuckin' UFO! Like in Close Encounters! Holy Mother 'o God!"

Chuck clapped Chris on the back. "We have to go check it out, right?"

Chris nodded. "We sure do, Mulder. Come on, Scully! Get up!" He nudged Drake with his foot.

With much effort and sweat, Drake managed to get to his feet. His shirt had been torn open and his hat was gone. Christ, he'd sunburn for sure.

Minutes later he was struggling to keep up with his friends as they hurried through the woods to the where they presumed the strange craft to have crashed. His head was still in pain, but he was at least able to function without any help. It hurt to talk, so he just listened as his friends jabbered on about aliens and UFO’s.

Through the trees directly ahead of the group they could see a fire burning and smoke billowing up into the air. All four gripped their guns a little tighter.

Chuck approached the wall of black smoke. He glanced back at the other three, grinned, and walked into the smoke.

“Holy…hey guys, you gotta see this! This is some fuckin' Twilight Zone shit! There’s-” Chuck enthusiasm was cut off by his own muffled scream and three quick shots from his rifle. Then, silence. Brady and Chris charged through the trees and smoke, over small patches of fire. They screamed Chuck's name. Drake stood still, petrified. He heard his friends calling for Chuck and then their own terrified shrieks. Guns went off. He heard his best friends moaning for their mothers.

It was like a nightmare...in fact...yes! He must still be unconscious! This was just a hallucination. Of course.

Drake was trembling and on his way to his knees when something shaped like a huge spider shot out from the smoke and latched itself onto his face. A terrifying sense of claustrophobia set in. Drake was aware of being smothered and he felt something worming its way down his throat. He thrashed around wildly before he fell to ground, unconscious, victim to the same fate as his friends.

It is a normal day at the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters. Jean Grey sits in the rec room as does Logan. Suddenly, the professor talks to all of the X-Men in their minds. "Everyone, report to my office. I have something to show you." All of the X-Men walk into the professor's office. A young, 23 year old man stands next to the professor. "Everyone, I want you to meet Scott Summers. His codename is Cyclops. He is 23," says the professor. "I'm Jean," says a 26 year old, sticking out her hand. Scott shakes it. Jean smiles. Jubilee, Logan, Rogue(with her hand in a glove), and Storm stick out their hands. Scott shakes all of their hands, one after another. "So, Scott, you have anywhere to stay?" asks Jean. Scott looks at her through his red see-thru quartz len sunglasses. asks Logan. "What are your powers?" asks Rogue. "Well, I have energy burstin' outta my eyes at all times. Imagine having your powers come in on prom night and you fire a hole through the boys bathroom, along going through the girls bathroom," replys Scott. "Well, it's good to meet you, Scott," says Jean. "Let's get your a room."

Later that night, a creature lurks on top of a skyscraper in New York City. A creature with tremendous strength. A creature that hunts other species for sport. The creature looks down at the busy city. He takes out his portable metal staff with sharp tip ends and a side where you hold it, it is sharp(If you want a pic, ask me. I made up this weapon). The thing takes out two silver palm-size metal plates. He uses them to scale a building and he goes into a window of the now-dark building. The creature puts the "suction cups" away. He walks through the building till he sees an armed security guard. The creature opens up a small computer on it's left wrist and presses some buttons. The creature turns invisible, but not completely. He walks towards the security guard and the creature pokes his staff into a wall, making a hole in it. The security guard looks at the hole. "What the-!?" says the security guard. The guard takes out his pistol and looks around. The creature jumps into the air and when he lands, the security guard is severed in two at the waist. The creature takes the upper torso of the guard somewhere.

The Hunt Is On
The next day, Scott hears on the news about a security guard being cut in two the night before and that the upper torso is missing. The professor calls everyone to his office. The X-Men all walk into the professor's office. "I have found out that the security guard last night that was severed in two was severed by an alien that hunts other species for game. We have to stop it and we have to stop it now. I have called in the two original killers of the alien. They are retired Major Dutch Schaffer and (now)Captain Mike Harrigan," says the professor. "The creature should hunt again tonight." Then, Dutch and Captain Harrigan walked into the office. "Welcome, gentlemen," says the professor. Dutch and Mike both have duffle bags with them. "Dutch and Mike, I told you about all of the X-Men except this new one. This is Scott Summers aka Cyclops," says the professor, pointing at Scott. Scott sticks out his hand and Dutch and Captain Harrigan both shake it, one at a time. Scott goes off into his room, feeling left out as everyone starts talking amongst themselves. Jean goes after Scott and follows him into his room, closing the door behind her. "Look, Scott, don't feel left out, " says Jean. "It's ok. I just don't fit in and-" But then Scott gets cut off by Jean kissing him. Scott looks at her through his sunglasses, eyes wide. "Scott, I'm starting to fall for you. I know I just met you but I am starting to like you," says Jean after the kiss. Then, Logan walks in. Jean and turn to the door, noticing Logan opened it and watched the whole thing. Jean gets a nervous look on her face. Logan glares at Scott. "Listen, Scott, we have to stop this creature tonight. It's called a Yaut Ja. We have codenamed it The Predator. Meet up in the War Room in 5 minutes," says Logan. Then, Jean walks out. "Stay the hell away from my girl, Summers!" says Logan as he leaves. 5 minutes later, all of the X-Men, Dutch, and Captain Harrigan are in the war room, all suited up, except for Scott, who isn't in a suit yet. A hologram of The Statue of Liberty appears on the table. "We have tracked Predator to the Statue of Liberty. We will all go there and face it," says the professor. "But let me finish the thing off. I know Logan thinks I can't do anything because he thinks I'm weak. I'll kill it ON MY OWN," says Scott. "And let me, Dutch, and Harrigan battle it. You guys are our backup if it leaves the statue," adds Scott. "Boy, you can't beat this thing," says Logan". Scott and Logan glare at each other. "Scott, let's get you suited up," says Professor X. Professor X wheels off, Scott following. They arrive in the locker room and the professor gets a suit for Scott . He suits up when the professor gives Scott a black visor. "Take this. It's for battle purposes and for when you sleep," says Professor X. Scott takes the visor and slips it on after closing his eyes and taking off his sunglasses. The X-Men, Dutch, and Mike all run to the hangar and get in the Blackhawk. Jean gets the jet ready for take off. Outside, the basketball court opens and the jet takes off. The court closes behind them.

The Battle Is Beginning
The Blackhawk arrives by the Statue of Liberty and Storm creates some fog. The jet then lands in the water and the fog stays around the jet. Dutch, Mike and the X-Men get out and walk on the jet. They walk onto Liberty Island. Meanwhile, The Predator is scaling the statue with his "suction cups". Scott and the rest of the X-Men walk into the statue. The Predator busts a hole in the statue and climbs in it. The X-Men search for the Predator. Then, the Predator comes out of no where and shoots out a net from a gun, trapping Storm and Jean. The rest of the X-Men, Dutch and Captain Harrigan turn around, looking at the Predator.

Scott, Dutch, Harrigan, and Logan look for the Predator, wanting to kill it. The Predator is cloaked right now so no one can see him. Then, from behind, The Predator shoots out a plasma blast from it's small shoulder cannon on it's left shoulder at Logan. It is a fully charged blast so Logan soars through the air and busts through a concrete wall of the statue, heading down for the ground. Then, the Predator turns visible and shoots another net at Harrigan and Dutch. They get caught in it. Scott looks to the Predator. The Predator slowly takes off all of it's armor, including it's mask. Then, The Predator takes out his smart-disc. He throws it at Scott but Scott quickly sidesteps to his left, the disc whizzing past him on his right. The Predator uses his computer to recall the disc. The lights on the disc turn on and one by one, they turn off, counting down to when the disc will come back. Scott grabs the disc where the finger holes are. The disc flys back to the Predator along with Scott on the disc, running along with it. Scott quickly reroutes the disc when it gets close to the Yaut Ja, cutting the creature slightly in the left rib area. Then the Predator quickly takes out his metal staff. Scott and The Predator fight, Scott blocking the staff with the disc, the Predator blocking the disc with his staff, sparks flying from the staff and disc when they connect. Scott suddenly hits the staff out of the Predator's hands with the disc. Quickly, out of nowhere, Scott chops off the Predator's head at the neck, decapitating the creature. Scott stares down at the creature's head. "I know this isn't over between us yet. This is just beginning...Predator," says Scott.

New York City lay in deathly silence, the streets were deserted except for squads of armed police and armored police vehicles, the Civil War had ended but the world was still in chaos. A curfew had been enforced in New York due to the high amount of attacks by thieves, muggers, rapists, terrorists and even super-villains. The police were heavily armored each one armed with the finest weapons and body armor, ready for anything, they would gladly lay their lives on the line in defense of their fair city. Wayne walked through the back streets and alleyways, his Stark M-17 rifle raised, all he could hear was his own footsteps and his breathing inside his gas mask, he checked every corner of his patrol zone investigating any chance of someone breaking the curfew. It was against regulations to remove your protective mask but as there was no one around Wayne thought he wouldn’t matter if he just caught a sneaky cigarette. Under the street light he stopped for a second, shouldering his rifle he removed his gas mask and helmet revealing his face, he was plain featured, not monstrously ugly but certainly not overly attractive, he had close cropped ginger hair and a large amount of freckles. He took a tissue from the front pocket on his vest and wiped his brow clear of sweat, he sat down by the street lap and laid his helmet and mask next to him and lit up a cigarette. He drew deeply on his cigarette and blew out again, he watched the wispy smoke hang in the air and dissipate in front of his eyes. He heard in the distance the unmistakable sound of an armored police transport, he knew if he was caught without his gas mask he would be in deep trouble, he fumbled with the strap and shoved it hard over his head, he heard the police cruiser drawing closer and saw it turn the corner onto the street he was on, jammed his helmet over his head and un-shouldered his automatic. The armored vehicle pulled up opposite him and he saluted, the hatch on top swung open with a loud bang and out popped another gas masked, armored and armed police officer, Wayne couldn’t tell who it was only that he was a higher rank than him. “Have you been smoking solider?” The high ranking policeman asked in a gruff monotone “No..no sir, of course not, that would be against regulations” Wayne stuttered feeling himself sweat again, but he wasn’t fooling the other officer who gestured to the curb, Wayne looked down and staring back at him was the cigarette he had just had, still glowing, Wayne cursed quietly and looked back at the other officer, but as he did the policeman was slamming the hatch back down and the armored car drove off slowly down the street. He sighed, he kicked the still smoldering cigarette out into the road, he knew what he was in store for back at base once his shift was over, turning about and walking down the alleyway he carried on with his patrol.

The moonlight streamed through the alleyways, casting sinister shadows of the vents, stairways and power boxes which stay atop the buildings, Wayne watched these shadows dance as clouds moved across the moon making some very strange shapes, but as he was almost hypnotized by these movements a huge bulky form cast a shadow into the alleyway. Wayne felt his body freeze as he saw this shadow move, it was a huge muscular body and it seemed to be sniffing the air, Wayne dare not move he couldn’t see the creature all he knew was that it was on one of the building’s rooftops above him. He plucked up the courage to take the walky-talky from his belt, as he raised it to his face and popped up his gas mask he never once took his eyes of the shadow, it was terrifying. “This is Trooper 060408, I have spotted something atop the rooftops in Sector 6D” He whispered into the walky-talky still transfixed by the shadow, what looked like a huge tongue flicked out from its mouth and Wayne felt the hairs on the back of his neck prick up. The walky-talky crackled back into life and startled him so much he almost dropped his gun to the floor. “Affirmative Trooper 060408, permission to engage, shoot to kill” The voice from the command centre said back, Wayne couldn’t believe this, they expected him to attack something on his own, he hadn’t been in a combat situation since his training, he couldn’t do this by himself. “My I request backup?” Wayne said trying to keep his composure, the voice swiftly crackled back through the walky-talky denying his request, he was on his own. The cowardly trooper swallowed and raised his rifle, he began to climb the set of external stairs that lead to the rooftop the figure was standing on, going as quietly he could he ascended.

As Wayne reached the top of the building he saw the figure standing on the edge at the other side of the rooftop, it hadn’t noticed him yet so he quietly approached it, his Stark-M17 raised and ready. “You there freeze!” Wayne shouted trying to sound threatening. The creature turned about revealing, its huge gapping mouth, its long purple tongue, its black body, its bulging muscles and its white markings. Wayne was frozen to the spot; he shivered and felt like he couldn’t even breathe, he began to shake uncontrollably as the monsters huge white eyes stared him down into oblivion. “Venom” He managed to cough out as the creature charged towards him with its long claws raised and fangs bearing down upon him. The insane symbiote spat black webbing from its wrists right into Wayne’s eyes, he screamed out and fired randomly into the air hoping to wound the monstrous creature. He heard the bullets impact against both concrete and flesh but it didn’t stop Venom or even slow him down, Wayne felt the gun torn from his hands then a phenomenal stab of agony in his stomach, he moved his hands down and felt warm liquid rushing over his hands, Venom had eviscerated him, he was handling his own guts. Venom watched with glee as the blinded policeman crawled on the ground like a dog as his intestines, stomach and very much all of his lower organs spilled out onto the rooftop. Wayne felt himself growing weaker and he fell onto his back, he felt all of he bodily fluids escape him through the gigantic gash In his torso, still not being able to see he felt his last breaths drawing nearer he couldn’t cry out, he couldn’t scream, he just felt Venoms hot breathe on the back of his nick as the crazed symboite sunk its teeth into the back of his head. Venom began to feast on the fallen police officer and he savored every last bite, chewing through every piece of armor and equipment, with not a single other soul aware of the sick display happening on the rooftop.

Ironman flew over New York; he glided around the Statue of Liberty then blasted his way at supersonic speed into the urban jungle. Flying between the buildings at an intense speed he saw beneath him armored cars and police patrols who made sure the curfew was enforced, but if they wanted to arrest Ironman they would have to catch him first. He looked at the buildings and glanced from rooftop to rooftop, rushing up towards him he saw a junction which would have been impossible to negotiate in a car, plane or helicopter at these speeds but it was no problem for Ironman he swiftly turned the corner and shot down another long street. Everything was clear so he began to pull up and jet back into the upper atmosphere, as Ironman climbed higher into the sky he felt something that almost felt like a rope rap around his right leg, he looked back down towards his leg and saw black webbing tied around it. On the end of that foul web hanging on with both hands was Venom, his massive tongue lashing out and his mouth stained with gore. “Come here tin can!” Venom cackled as he pulled himself along to web towards the jet powered hero “We want to eat your brains!” Venom grabbed hold of Ironman’s leg dug in his claws deep into his armor. The black slimy symboite suddenly began to peel back as it got closer to Ironman’s flaming rockets in his boots, revealing the twisted face of Mac Gargan, but the symobiote quickly clogged the jet with webbing and carried on unrelenting towards its next meal. Ironman began to spiral out of control as he now only running on one booster and with the added weight of Venom the ground thousands of feet bellow them seemed not that far away. Tony tried to shake the maniac off but it was no use Venom was far too strong, he fired one of his missiles straight into the symbiotes face but It didn’t affect him in the slightest, Venom rapped his tongue around Ironman’s thigh and moved in for the kill. Tony let out a bloodcurdling cry of pain as he felt Venoms dagger like teeth pierce through his armor and sink deep into his flesh, he landed a punch into the raging symbiote’s gut but that didn’t stop the flurry of bites and tearing claws. Ironman felt his last booster jet fail under the weight of Venom on his back, there was a cough and a splutter as the rockets cut out and he and Venom began to plummet back towards the ground and the awaiting city bellow. Venom giggled manically as he clamped his jaws around Ironman’s head and began to shake, Tony saw the fangs come through the edged of his helmet just centimeters from his face and felt the ripping motion with enough force to break a lesser mans neck. Just as Stark finally managed to shake the insane creature of his back he saw the ground bellow him rush up and felt the crushing impact as he hit the hard grey concrete, he felt bones break and a stabbing pain all over his body and slowly the head up display in his eyes faded and he was left in darkness. Venom clawed his way out of the back alley he had landed in, both his legs where broken but the insane creature just keep digging his talons into the street and dragging himself towards his fallen foe, his mouth was dripping with saliva as he awaited his meal from the tin can that laid in the middle of the street. Stark heard the stammering monster dragging itself towards him, that foul breath and disgusting slimy body was just meters away, he tried to get any response from the suit but he couldn’t even stand, the breathing grew louder, Tony felt sweat gather on his forehead and he tried every system but nothing in his armor was responding, he heard the breathing grow even louder as Venom descended upon him.

Hulij-Bpe took off, blasting away at the mud creature with his plasma caster only to have it regenerate itself within seconds. The Man-Thing lunged forward with his arm acting as a spear narrowly missing the young blooded warrior. Hulij simply cut the arm in half with a backslash from his combistaff and fired another three shots at the Man-Thing's chest, again with little effect. The Man-Thing dropped into the muck and vanished, only to appear in front of Hulij grabbing hold of him and lifting him into the air. Though acid resistant, the Yautja's armor began to falter under the constant touch of the Man-Thing. In a desperate act, Hulij lunged his combistaff into the beast, only to have it cemented in the Man-Thing's gut. Hulij unsheathed his wristblades, severing the hand of the behemoth and freeing himself, only to be catapulted into a tree with a punch from the Man-Thing moments later.

Hulij stepped forth from the indented tree and glared toward the Man-Thing, his wristblades shining against the luminescent moon. Hulij-Bpe was studying his opponent, and already he had discovered he regenerates by drawing on the swamp around him, this information was worthless to him though, since it seemed impossible to remove him from it. Hulij's mind began racing for a way to harm the monster, but not fast enough, the Man-Thing was on him, Hulij stumbled back using his wrsitblades to keep him at bay, not looking where he was going he subsequently dripped over a log and was now at the mercy of the mindless creature. Quick thinking was the only thing that saved the young blood as he fired his plasma caster. But not at the Man-Thing, instead he targeted the tree behind him. With a crash the tree crushed the Man-Thing, barley missing Hulij as he rolled to the side and scrambled to his feet. Hulij turned to look down on the Man-Thing laying beneath the fallen tree, Hulij calmly walked toward him only to retrieve his freed Combistaff raise it above the creature's head. Hulij cracked his head in satisfaction seconds before being impaled by the Man-Thing's arm and throws into the air. Hulij slammed into a boulder, blood gushed from his opened wound as he got to his feet slowly and he turned to see the Man-Thing rise to his full height, Hulij fired his plasma caster only to discover it nonoperational. The young blood staggered backward, combistaff in hand just as an arrow whizzed through the night into the Man-Thing's head. The Man-Thing, annoyed, turned to look on the assailant only to fight three humanoid creatures charging toward him. Hulij-Bpe, now outnumbered and handicapped, activated cloak disappearing into the dark.

Aragon, Gimli, and Legolas bounded through the darkness toward the large creature before them. Legolas firing arrow after arrow, hitting his mark every time. Then Aragon reached the Man-Thing and with one mighty hack from Andúril he cleaved him in two, only to watch him reform before his very eyes. Gimli propelled himself off of a large boulder and slammed his ax into the Man-Thing only to have his ax stuck within the creature's arm. Aragon found the solution to this problem within moments as he severed the Man-Thing's arm freeing Gimli's ax. The Man-Thing howled in rage as it sent Gimli flying with a well placed punch and lunged his arm though Aragon's shoulder. Aragon screamed in agony only to flail his blade about, cutting the arm in two. Gimli leaped in severing the opposite arm and cutting a huge gash across the Man-Thing's gut. Legolas watched as Aragon held their own against the creature. Just then, Legolas's elven eyes spotted a form in the darkness, it's yellow eyes flashing as it took off. Legolas wasted no time, this was the creature responsible for the Hafling's deaths, he would pay. Hastily, Legolas notched and arrow and fired on the creature, his aim was true as the arrow sunk into the back of the creature's knee, slowing him. Hulij howled in pain, ripping forth the arrow and tossing it aside. Angered, he turned to face his pursuers only to discover it was but a single ooman. Slowly, he reached for his mask, only to remove it and toss it to the woodland floor below. Arching his back he flared his mandibles and roared in rage striking a hint of fear in the heart of the elf.

Aragon and Gimli fought like animals against the Man-Thing, but eventually were overwhelmed and placed on the defensive. Aragon's right shoulder lacked strength due to his injury and it showed as he nearly lost his grip on Andúril when the Man-Thing landed yet another blow. Gimli, now alone, whirled his ax about and hacked it down into the top of the Man-Thing's head. Just then, a bright light filled the darkness and struck the Man-Thing causing him to explode instantly. "I didn't do that" Said Gimli in astonishment at the Man-Thing's demise. Aragon walked toward Gimli looking toward a bright figure in white mere feet before him. Gimli turned to see what was the source of Aragon's stare, only to see an elderly man draped in white standing before them holding not but a staff in hand. Nonetheless, Gimli fell to his knees "it can't be" said he as his eyes now filled with tears. Aragon dropped to his knee as well and bowed before the old man, "Gandalf! But how?!". "There will be time for that" Answered Gandalf as he gently brought Aragon to his feet " but now we must hasten to the aid of the son of Thranduil, for it appears he has departed and will soon be lost to us, if not saved, for the forest of Fanghorn is a dangerous place and it's far to easy to loose one's way or stumble upon that of another". "I have faith in that Legolas will take care of himself if he were to fall into any harm, nevertheless, I agree, we shall talk when the time is less urgent" Said Aragon before turning to leave, only to be shoved aside by Gimli who is now charging head first into the wood. "Come on Aragon! We can't let the elf have all the fun!" Yelled Gimli. Aragon and Gandalf simply shook their heads in wonder and raced after Gimli, charging steadfast into the night.

Now, Legolas Greenleaf stood facing the large form of the young blooded predator, Hulij-Bpe, who simply tossed his combistaff aside and unsheathed his wristblades. For this battle would be fought with strength, and honor, two of the things the Yautja race excelled in. Calmly, Legolas notched an arrow, while Hulij simply glared at him."ROAR" Hulij yelled to the heavens. Then ran up with no hesitation and stabbs Legolas.
