All fans of the 1966 Batman TV series were saddened by the loss of Adam West this year back in June. Recently, he had lent his voice to one more Batman animated adventure called Batman Return of the Caped Crusaders which starred himself, Burt Ward as Robin, and Julie Newmar. It was a brand new adventure for the '66 version of Batman that Adam West had essentially created via his take on the Dark Knight. Basically, he had created a Bright Knight.
The new animated movie was a hit, and so another animated movie went into production once more with the same voice actors, but this time also starring Wiliam Shatner who made his mark in the 60's through Star Trek. The movie will be called, Batman vs Two-Face will be coming our way in October 2017. It will likely be the last Batman work that Adam West took part in.
Over recent years especially, there has been a resurgence in popularity for the '66 Adam West version of Batman. Amazon has a huge inventory of Batman '66 collectibles and products.
Thankfully, of course, the entire original series is available on DVD.
The new animated movies that Adam West and Burt Ward took part in were the not first time they added their voices to animation as Batman and Robin. The first time being the 1977 the New Adventures of Batman.
My favorite from back in the day was Adam West's time on the Super Friends.
Adam West will sorely be missed, but at least we still have his awesome Batman work on DVD.
