Time Travel Movies and Television Shows

Interested in time travel? So am I, in fact I'm so interested in time travel I've created my own time traveling superhero Time-Rider. Over the years I've become so fascinated by time travel not necessarily by scientific text books, but by all those great sci-fi movies and television shows.  Here are some of the movies and television shows that have inspired me in one way or another to take on the task of creating stories surrounding the sometimes complex, but always interesting science of time travel.

Quantum Leap - Theorizing that one can time travel within one's own lifetime, Dr. Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, putting things right that once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap would be the leap home.

Twilight Zone - You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension... a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance of things and ideas. You've just crossed into the Twilight Zone.

Lois and Clark the New Adventures of Superman came on ABC during the 1990's and ran for four seasons. 5 episodes of this fun series were dedicated to time travel, and in my humble opinion were the best of the series run.
The Time Tunnel - "Two American scientists are lost in the swirling maze of past and future ages, during the first experiments on America's greatest and most secret project, the Time Tunnel.

Planet of the Apes - My ultimate favorite if for no other reason than the fact I loved it so much as a child. The Planet of the Apes had it all, a astronaut traveling to future devastated by nuclear weapons and controlled by apes. Then they did the unthinkable and blew up the planet while sending the future's most intelligent apes back to the present.

The Final Countdown - An American nuclear aircraft carrier the USS Nimitz, way back in 1980, ends up in a time storm and gets lost back a day before December 7, 1941 the bombing of Pearl Harbor
Back to the Future - The fun loving movie about a teenager and a local scientist who invents a time machine out of a Delorian. Michael J. Fox's biggest hit, and probably the biggest box office time traveling hit of all time.
The Time Machine - The Time Machine 2002 is an update to the classic 1960 version based on the novel by H.G. Wells and directed by his great grandson Simon Wells.
Terminator -The apocalyptic future makes for a great time travel story along with lots of action and cyborgs of course.
Timecop based on a comic book series became a successful movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme also became a short lived TV series. If time travel were possible it would need a cop to direct traffic.

Somewhere in Time - Playwright Richard Collier played by Christopher Reeve meets an old woman who gives him a pocket watch asking him to come back to her. Years later he uses hypnosis to travel back in time to the early 1900's to meet her.
Kate & Leopold is a 2001 romantic comedy motion picture that tells a story of a Duke who time travels from 1876 to the present and falls in love with a career woman in New York.
