Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill, (November 1874 – 24 January 1965) was a British politician known chiefly for his leadership of the United Kingdom during World War II. He served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955. A noted statesman and orator, Churchill was also an officer in the British Army, a historian, a Nobel Prize-winning writer, and an artist.
Marvel Universe
When Marvel's World War II superheroes saved the life of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill from Master Man, the thankful Churchill suggested that they should become a team, known as the Invaders including Captain America, Toro, Human Torch, and the Sub-mariner.
DC Universe
In those first few months of the All-Star Squadron Johnny Quick and the Squadron were actively involved with President Franklin Roosevelt and the visiting Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Winston Churchill. Johnny not only protected Churchill from Nazis, the super-Nazi called Baron Blitzkrieg, and from brain-washed POWs (in the form of Commander Steel), he too saves the Statue of Liberty and the National Monument from attacks by Nazi sympathizers. He also travels to the Yucatan, Mexico, in the days before Christmas in order to help Carter Hall rescue his fiancee Miss Shiera Sanders. There, too, they fight Nazis and Mexican Nazi sympathizers.
