The DC Pride No. 1 book will also include full-page profiles of the DC TV world’s LGBTQIA+ characters and the actors who play them. Among them is Dreamer, a trans woman superhero, in a story written by Nicole Maines, who plays the character in The CW’s Supergirl. A forward will be written by comic and TV writer Marc Andreyko (Love is Love comic anthology).
Alongside the release, a series of nine Pride-themed variant covers will also be released with leading DC characters like Batman and Superman, with artwork by Kris Anka, Jen Bartel, Stephen Byrne, Paulina Ganucheau, Travis G. Moore, David Talaski, Kevin Wada and Yoshi Yoshitani.
DC’s plans for Pride month also involve the release of miniseries Crush & Lobo by Tamaki and Amancay Nahuelpan, which follows Crush, the daughter of bounty hunter Lobo, who is in self-destruct mode after quitting the Teen Titans and blowing up her relationship with her girlfriend.
Elsewhere, DC will publish GLAAD Media Award-nominated Suicide Squad: Bad Blood by Tom Taylor (Injustice: Gods Among Us) and Bruno Redondo (Nightwing) on April 27; as well as the gothic romance Poison Ivy: Thorns by Kody Keplinger (The DUFF) and Sara Kipin on June 1. Yoshitani’s YA graphic novel I Am Not Starfire will publish July 27.
