Flash Forward, which officially debuted Sunday, is a new comic strip anthology featuring 40 artists and illustrators telling Flash Gordon stories in their own style, with contributors including Pia Guerra (Y: The Last Man and political cartoons for The New York Times and The Washington Post), Erica Henderson (The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Dracula, Motherf***er), and Liniers (Macanudo).
Additionally, Flash Gordon: A Minute to Save The World is the first motion comic to feature the character, with the first five 60-second episodes debuting at the Flash Gordon theatrical screenings. For those not attending, the series— produced by King Features Syndicate and drawn by David Reddick — will be serialized online via the Comics Kingdom YouTube channel, starting Nov. 15.
That’s just the start of a new promotional push for Flash Gordon in the upcoming months; further product, including a board game, prints, and action figures based on the franchise, as well as a redesign of the character and Titan Books’ Dec. 1 release of Flash Gordon: The Official Story of The Film, celebrating the anniversary of the movie.
