The story concerns a kidnapped kid who finds himself in a soundproof basement surrounded by the remains of other victims. When night falls, the antique — and disconnected — telephone in the room begins to ring with the calls from the dead.
Hawke, who also starred in Derrickson’s first Sinister movie, is the kidnapper while Thames is the kid. Davis is the boy’s father while McGraw is his sister.
Ransone’s part is being kept a mystery, but it is known that the character’s name is Max. (Yeah, that’s not really helpful.)
Derrickson and frequent collaborator C. Robert Cargill wrote the script adapting the tale that first appeared in Hill’s short story collection, 20th Century Ghosts. Derrickson, Cargill and Blumhouse’s Jason Blum are producing the film. Hill is an executive producer.
Ransone appeared as a deputy in the first Sinister and then got lead billing in the 2015 sequel. The actor is known for his stints on Generation Kill, Treme and Bosch. In It Chapter Two, he played the adult version of hypochondriac Eddie Kasprak, stealing many of his scenes.
