The second week of the PS4 saw a steep decline.
Death Stranding finally came after years of waiting. I think it’s fair to say that the game ended up being a much different beast than what many imagined. While the critical reception has been overall positive, it remains Kojima’s lowest rated title on average. That didn’t stop the game from seemingly selling well, as it charted high in both UK and Japan. But it seems as if the second week may not be as good, however.
According to GamesIndustry, the game’s second week on the UK charts saw a very steep decline. It dropped a staggering 71% from its first week. For comparison, most of Sony’s other major first party titles have had drops ranging 30-40%. It may not mean a lot, since this is only in one region, but it is a pretty large tumble for a major release all the same. Whether or not this will translate to other regions, we’ll have to wait and see.
Death Stranding is available now for PlayStation 4, with a PC version slated to come out sometime in 2020.
